Does he have access to a spillover Mother's Day mail truck heading to Michigan?
Anyway, here's how I could get them cheaper, in theory.
- Assume I am not a Platinum and have Hall of Fame status. This allows me access to the $5 coupon for every $125 I spend. $1 = 4 points; 500 points = $5 coupon.
- Assume I buy in batches of 20 cards which makes the cost per card $4 each. I'm not a $3.99 guy, I round up. $3.9995 per card is $4 to me.
- Let's say yesterday was an auto day and I spent $2,000. This would allow me to redeem 16 $5 codes.
- The following day I place multiple orders of 1 x 20 cards. Instead of paying $4 a card, or $80, I'm now paying $75 for the 20-card order. I'm now down to $3.75 per card.
- Or, since I spent $2,000 the day before, I can go for two $40 coupons. If I order just 20 cards in each order, I'm paying only $40 per order with the coupon or $2 a card. However, I can only buy 40 cards.
- Or, I can just bank those codes until a really hot base card comes out.
- I pay for my cards with a credit card that offers 1% cash back. I eventually will get back $0.04 for each card.
- I also use TopCashback which gives me 3% or $0.12 per card back eventually.
Platinum members can't take advantage of the discount codes unless they create a side account and buy from that. They also can't spend too much on that account for fear that they become Platinum next year. They can, however, sell off their swag to make up for this.
Auto and relic days are a great way to accumulate points to get discount codes to buy base cards.
The seller in question does not appear to be buying or selling every single base card like some of you. You couldn't do this every single day. There aren't enough auto or relic days to get you enough codes.
