Default Unexpectedly found a whole lot of vintage while digging for commons (Pics Included)

Long story short, I was digging for some basketball and football commons and saw some boxes on the very top shelf. In the very back corner, there were some crap late 80s/early 90s Pro Set football and another small box underneath it. Checked it out and ended up finding 249 (approximately - some cards might've stuck to each other while counting) vintage cards. I'll just get to the pics. I doubt it's anything earth-shattering but anyways...

Obviously I'm the farthest thing from a baseball aficionado (especially vintage) and have no clue about monetary value but still a cool find nonetheless, I suppose. Thanks for looking!

I wonder what the story is behind that multiplication problem on the Mack Jones Scratch Off.

Nice cards!

I will say you should look up all those Post cereal cards. Most cards are worth $1 but a lot of ones in those sets could be short prints and worth $25-50 each. They're in rough condition though. I'll post more tomorrow about what you have. Cool find.

I love the looks of the 1951 Bowman set! And I second the post above saying to check out those post cereal cards. There are some in there that would surprise you. Those couple of 52 Topps might surprise you as well, commons tend to be in the $4-5 range but if those are high numbers they could be considerably more.

Really nice find there!

That 1970 Seattle Pilots is a high number card and is about $50 in PSA 8. Cool find

The 1956 team cards are all the second variation with team name to the left and no year. Probably around $5-10 each if you find a master set collector who needs them.

That is an awesome find, I don't think I have ever heard of anyone finding a 1933 Goudey in a commons box.

Wow very nice. I would be pretty fired up to find all this. Unfortunately it will never happen with me as I am too OCD about organizing cards, so there likely won't be any surprises as cool as this.

Wow very nice find! So did you have these somewhere and just forgot about them?

Just now getting a chance to respond since I had to crash early for work this morning.

Surprisingly, I have no idea. I honestly have no idea where they came from - only thing I can guess is that they were my dad's or grandfather's and I somehow ended up with them years ago; I probably just stashed them up there and forgot. The top shelf just contains a bunch of junk so I never bothered looking. I was looking for a couple of specific cards last night and stumbled across this old 300-ct box with those inside. Definitely blew my mind a little bit.

That's one of the few cards I recognized since I've seen so many images of Ruth's. I think the Mathewson, Ott, etc are 1961 Fleer? Other than that, I have no idea, haha. Definitely not a vintage aficionado.

This is the box I found them in that was under the 1990s Pro Set. I just magically assumed that this box was also Pro Set football, but I was wrong apparently. The box has definitely seen better days, haha.

You have early Bowmans ranging from 1948-1955, early Topps from 1952 to 1970, Post cereal handcut cards, Kellogg's 3-D, a couple of Topps Standups, 1960-1961 Fleers, etc. Cards range from a quarter to $50 each. Do some searches at Check Out My Baseball Cards, Comics & Collectibles - COMC Card Marketplace to check which ones are worthwhile. Some might even be worth grading through PSA if they are nice, creasefree. I would look at the condition of the 1956 team cards I mentioned earlier and possibly grade those. The 1953 Mel Parnell looks pretty sharp too.
The Posts aren't worth grading unless they have the entire black border around them.

I would recommend completed eBay auctions. COMC is a joke for those years of cards as most are insanely overpriced.

For the short print cards, you name your price and wait for a buyer. No reason to run them at auction to sell a $40 Post for $7.

Also check my COMC. Even if you don't use COMC I can have cards shipped.

Does anyone know what the value of these are? It would be nice to sell them so someone else can enjoy them more than me, as they're just gathering dust in a small box. If anyone wants to buy these and/or knows what they're worth, please let me know! Thanks!

As someone who has gone through more junk wax era stuff than I care to admit, I'd say this is definitely a home run! Anytime I found anything pre-80, it was a party. Congratulations!

Haha thanks mouschi. I thought for sure it was just a bunch of late 80s/early 90s crap but I was surprised to say the least.
