Default Interest in a new Fantasy Hockey league?

Anyone interested in starting up a free Fantasy Hockey league? We can discuss if it will be a straight re-draft league, keeper league, auction or snake and so on if we get enough people.

Post if you are interested in playing. I'd like to get 10, 12 if possible.

Keepers

3 keepers each season, losing a pick one round earlier than selected (5th round pick costs 4th rounder next season)
Can not keep more than 1 Goalie, must keep at least 2 skaters but no more than 2 F or D (i.e. 1 F, 1 D, 1 G or 2 of F or D and 1 of the other, 0 G)
We will have a minimum on keepers rounds as well soon (possibly nothing higher than a 5th round pick can be kept)
Free Agents will cost a pick as well, still TBD

I'd be in if we can get enough people. Don't know a whole lot outside of the Wild, but it'd be fun!

updated, 5 people in, all have voted for keeper/snake combo so far.

ESPN would be the choice for me, I prefer their interface for online/app.

We can determine how many keepers when we get the league full.

I don't think ESPN allows you to lose a round for keepers, I don't know if Yahoo allows that, if it matters

I'm in favor of ESPN as well. They make it difficult to handle costs of keepers, but we can find a workaround

Ok, so we have 10 people now interested. I will give it another day or two, see if anyone else posts to want in for 12 people, but I think 10 is a good number.

Next thing to decide (and I'll PM you all) is how many keepers we want to do, and if we want to attempt a way to lose a round for the players, or just do a straight keeper no penalty.

Snake draft won out, we will get that randomed before drafting.

My keeper vote is for 2 keepers with no more than 1 goalie allowed to be kept by each team.

Since ESPN doesn't allow me to penalize rounds, it would just be straight keepers

if we are able to do it with losing the round rather than just off the front, i would prefer that and to make it like 3-5 rounds earlier than where you drafted them. i prefer keeping the 'diamonds in the rough' rather than just keeping your studs.

i like 3-4 keepers.

I also want to know if people want the rosters set up as ESPN standard with is Forwards/Defense/Goalie or if we want to go LW/C/RW/D/G?

I kind of want to go with the specific forward positions, a little more strategy needed (I'm going to set it up this way for now, but we can change it)

Scoring Categories as well, right now I'm setting it to 5x5 - G, A, PIM, +/-, Power Play Points & W, L, SO, GAA, SV% for 10 total categories each week, scoring each category, so you get a W-L-T record each week

Keepers- I prefer 3, but anything 5 or under works for me. Think it'd be cool to have each keeper cost a draft pick in 1 round higher than they were taken in the previous year's draft, but that would require people to pay close attention to a list of guys that cannot be drafted while the draft is going on since we'd have to do it manually. It can work, just would be a bit more complicated. Though if anyone can't make it to the draft, autodraft would mess things up a lot. If we don't want to deal with that headache, I'd be fine with it just being straight keepers, no penalty

Another thought with keepers, maybe setting a max of number of players at a certain position you can keep? No more than 2 keepers as forwards, 2 for defenders, and 1 goalie maybe? Would help keep things a bit more even and prevent a team from stockpiling players at a certain position

Scoring categories doesn't really matter to me, haven't played much fantasy hockey so I'm not attached to anything in particular. Are we thinking points or categories? Again not a big deal to me

As for rosters, just F/D/G is easier, but I kinda like the idea of LW/C/RW/D/G instead. A bit more strategy. Not a dealbreaker for me though

I am definitely on board for max keepers per position depending on what total amount we decide. does keep the total player pool more even, maybe better availability in the future

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to manage the penalties for keepers? I'm not a huge fan of losing like 3 or 4 rounds in advance of the player. My vote would be for round drafted in or round ahead at most.

With 3 keepers I also want to implement a rule on max per position. I am warming to the idea of 1 F, 1 D, 1 G keepers, but I would most likely say 3 keepers, 2 skaters and 1 goalie max?

Do we want to allow someone to keep three skaters and zero goalies? But still 2 forwards max in that situation?

If we do incorporate a penalty for keepers, I think it should be 1 round higher than what they were drafted in last year. 3 or 4 rounds higher doesn't make sense to me, and seems overly complicated

I don't think we should force someone to keep a goalie. Though I am in favor of having to keep 1 forward and 1 defender, but then I think your last keeper can be any position. So must keep at least 1 forward and at least 1 defender, with no minimum for goalies, but no more than 2 forwards, no more than 2 defenders, and no more than 1 goalie. All that assuming we go with 3 keepers
