Interest in these has definitely spiked some in the last month. A Battle Dage sold for $600 which blows my mind so I moved my Slave 1 for $500, lol (much rather have that kind of $$ than the single disc though it was a great looking disc). Also I've moved almost all my sets (6+ of them) in the last few weeks. I'm not sure if the blue starfield collector is strickly "pump and dump" being that set is EXTREMELY hard to build. I've been trading and purchasing lots for well over 2 months now and have only come upon a handful of the ~15 short-prints. Point being, seller put alot of work into it if they built the set from scratch. BUT, yeah seller is asking for the moon with those prices. I think it'll be really interesting to see if the Blue Starfields trend up as in the last few weeks the listings are really starting to dry up. You could get discs easily for $1-$2 a month+ ago but now there is only a few at ~$5 and a lot of the packs (1 starfield /pack) are finally drying up, lol. But, yes, bring on Wave 2 and I really hope the Short-Print Ultra Rares aren't still ~1:2,000 $10 packs. Last edited by BHotz; 12-04-2015 at 08:34 AM. |

I'm still working on these casually, bought up some Hallmark cards with silver and gold parallels and generally just getting what looks interesting to me. I'll likely open some Wave 2 but not as much as this initial wave.
Anyone hear if 12/18 will have another blue starfield giveaway? |

Upthread someone mentioned there would be another Force Friday promo on 12/18, but you'd think they'd be hyping that already since that is just a week away.
It looks like Topps is bungling the promotion and distribution of this product. You can still get wave 1 starters and packs in large quantities online at Walmart. On Facebook, Topps said they would stop selling wave 1 once wave 2 hits 12/18. So, I would expect them to discount it online soon if what they posted was truthful. Or maybe they plan on destroying product (doubtful). EDIT: If you go on Topps website there is a placeholder for Galactic Connexions 2... http://www.topps.com/topps-star-wars...rds-55875.html (URL name is goofy, but that is the Galactic Connexions 2 page with the following message Quote:

Ive been collecting and spending a lot of money on these connexion coins trying to pull rares and very excited about the new series coming out but wanted to post something important about the rarity and value of some of these "coins" and how topps really needs do something about preventing counterfeits. What i mean by that is there is no way im aware of to identify a connexion piece really is authentic vs one created by taking a common grey, black etc connexion photo and swapping it with a crummy character on a gold silver or more rare coin. Besides greens having a unique foil pattern and slave 1 and battle damaged being super rare themselves all the others cant be identified as having the original photo from the factory on a specific color disc.
I posted on topps facebook page hoping they will make some change to prevent this, such as making each coin type also have a specific foil pattern so swapping images is easily identifyable as a counterfeit or somehow serialize on the image the rarity so the numbers wouldnt match from grey to black to gold etc. but i suspect it will be the same for series 2 as they are likely already printed and packaged I wont be posting how to do it without issues but as a test i did this and was able to trick my father into beleiving i bought him a sp blue starfield for his collection. I did it just to prove it could be done and its hard to trust this isnt being done by people selling them online ( no offense to anyone here). Btw i told him afterward it was fake. This isnt good as a collector and their value but people need to be aware and topps needs to fix this for their own product integrity. I hate this is my first post and hope someone will tell me there is a way to identify real from fake that im overlooking. Last edited by lightsmasher; 12-15-2015 at 09:48 PM. |

Hmmm, if you can actually do this, I wouldn't call them fake (if they are indistinguishable). WITH THAT SAID, yeah that would definitely drop the price on "short prints." Basically the constraining resource would be said colored discs and said pictures both of which aren't super plentiful... well specific discs can easily cost $1-$10+ (blue starfield's floor seem to be trending up @ ~$5+ too). And you would have to be proficient doing it or you would damage the sticker and have to try again. Plus, like you said they would have to be indistinguishable. I'll have to play around with this out of curiosity - but again if it works, they would be more created and not "fake" as everything is legit just not pack-pulled as said disc. So yeah, no this is not good for the collecting of these in a value aspect. It would essentially put a ceiling on said disc depending on how valuable the said colored disc & sticker is. I've already noticed blue starfield rarer discs have dropped in price so perhaps more have already figured out how to do this (?). I traded pretty hard awhile back for a few SPs (pack pulled or got the others in the dozens of lots I've bought ) but if these can actually be "created", definitely going to tread lightly and something to keep in mind for Wave 2. Also it's sad if Topps doesn't take some measure to prevent this (unless they don't have an issue with it?)... again depending on how easily this can be done. It would be good for those trying to shore up the last disc or two - completing these sets, even grays, can be a bitch from my experience. |

Force Friday is coming! Anyone hear of Walmart Blue Starfield pack giveaways? I've seen nothing online, don't want to be up at midnight if there is no reason to be!

So yeah I'd guess most Walmarts will hand them out sometime on Friday and probably how they did on Force Friday. The closest Walmart here had them on a table on Friday morning last time so guessing they'll do that again. |

I'm sure I'll check a few walmarts at midnight here and they won't have anything, then by the time I return in the morning it will be too late. Thats how most of these promotions tend to end up for me - or one greedy guy walks off with the whole box of promo packs.
Yeah I know, I'm bitter. Been burned too often though. Just hoping for a couple packs! |

I wonder what prices will be out of the gate with this release?
The wave 1 stuff really did well on eBay the first week or so. The reds and greens were selling for a premium (well above the price of the starter sets at least), but then settled down to about $3 each (outside of key characters that fell to like $15). Now, I am not so sure these discs will be as hot out of the gate, BUT if it does catch on with kids, perhaps momentum will build. I think one negative is the checklist overall is a bit weaker than the wave 1 list. Not by much though (both sets have a ton of obscures). I think I will wait until January to start buying into this set. Ultimately I think I will just go for the slime greens and be open to trading some of my wave 1 non-slime green discs for wave 2 greens. |

The purples actually are in the checklist as another ultra rare on the same line as the greens and reds. So it will be interesting to see how this additional chase color plays out in the pack odds.

Not sure how i missed that purple listing
Im Excited to see the movie tonight and then stop by walmart to see if i can snag any handouts or new packs. I have a sinking feeling the free walmart packs will be harder to come by or workers wont know much about them |

So, nothing on twitter or facebook or walmart.com. Is this wave 2 promo release even happening at midnight? I'm beginning to think there won't be any promo packs...overreacting maybe but absolutely no news with 12 hours to go?

There will be promo packs. They list them in the checklist with fine print that their distribution will be subject to individual walmart stores. It will just be like the first time where your mileage may vary from one Walmart to the next. Best guess is if your walmart did not have them last time, they likely won't participate this time either.

Jason put his set up for sale? I must have missed it... don't see it in his completed eBay listings either. Last contact I had with him was that he wasn't sure about Wave 2 but wanted some changes. Have fun at the movie! Lol, I tried to take my nephew but it was a school night so going with some friends tonight. So far I've avoided all spoilers which is surprising for me. |

Just hit Walmart and Wave 2 is already out. Opening some starters and boosters shortly. No sign of promo packs. I didn't know about the promos last time around so no clue which Walmarts did it and where those would be handed out.

So the new release does not have any identifying series notes on the back like the "1st Edition" on Wave 1. Makes that release a little more special IMO.
1st edition disks have "CMP015055" while 2nd series have "CMP016635". |

^^ Thanks for sharing.
So stupid they make the short-print Ultra Rares as rare as the Leia solid gold disc. Ugh, guess I shoulda bitched more but probably wouldn't have mattered. If they SP Ultra Rares would have been more like 1:250/500 $10 packs, I bet there would be a ton more breakers and thus more sets for everyone and that could have driven demand. EDIT: BTW according to Topps Star Wars Facebook, you get blue starfield packs with Walmart.com orders. LOL, that's one way to spur demand online. Still wondering if they will be in store too because they had already said they would unless they all of a sudden changed it. Last edited by BHotz; 12-17-2015 at 09:06 PM. |
