Default Donating to Salvation army..

For those who have donated a lot of stuff to the salvation army or similar organizations...

when donating clothes, have any of you itemized the clothes if provided a valuation guide from the organization? im about to sort out about 5-6 boxes worth of clothes and based on the valuation guide i have from the local salvation army, i could write off AT LEAST 600 bucks worth of stuff...

so my question is.. when it comes to valuation guides, do you use the low or high end? or just avg it and call it a day...?

and if you have itemized your donations, has it worked out positively for you when uncle sam comes a knockin?
