Default Breygent Sketch Card?

Did one box of this when it first came out (2007) and got this sketch card. The signature of the artist is "CH". Does anyone know who that would be and if this card is worth much? I don't know too much about non sports cards so any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks peter. I would not have guessed that was a "v" in the auto.

NO! This is Chris Henderson. I have a lot of his sketches, and he signs all of them with "CH".

Is this sketch a black and white one or did you just scan it without color?

It would bring between $9 and $15 on Ebay. He did several of these sketches. Those that he only did one of, he marked on the back "1/1". He also has a full color version of this exact card.

Early last year I was emailing Chris back and forth for a while, and he sent me copies of all his cards he did for this set. (Just a printed out copy, not actual cards). I have over half of these sketch cards.

I'll pay you $20 for this card if you're selling. I know you're probably a little leery selling to a guy who told you how much it's worth and then says he'll pay more, but I'm an honest person and would never cheat anyone.

If you like, you could list it on Ebay, and I promise to bid $20 on it. Then if it goes for more, you will be happy. The only risks here are it might only sell to me for around $9. And if someone outbids me, they will probably only outbid me by $1 meaning you pay a little more in fees, but I don't mind at all if you want to list it first to test the waters.

Good luck with what you decided to do. If you want to sell off ebay, I'll paypal you the money today. I'm leaving in a few minutes though for a board meeting that's a few hours away and won't return until late afternoon, so don't panic if I don't pay you until tonight.

Peter,

I'm sorry bud...fortunately, I won't have to go to the Breygent web site link as I already printed off all of the pictures they posted from every artist last year. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about because I have more of these sketch cards than anyone else could possibly have. I have more than half of them from every artist.

Here's a scan of the Vanoni card, front and back. This is exactly how this artist signed every card:

And here's the color sketch from Chris Henderson. Notice also how he signs every single one of his cards on the back. There's no denying who made the sketch card that the OP has in his possession.

One last thing to observe regarding these scanned examples is notice the group of buildings in the middle on the right hand side of the OP's scan and then the same grouping of buildings on the card from Vanoni and Henderson. You can tell that they are nearly identical to the Henderson sketch card.

I'm still in the market to buy the "Henderson" black and white card in post #1 if you want to sell.

Please let me know if you list it on Ebay if you choose that route. I don't want to miss it.

Thanks,

Matt

No problem Peter.

These cards can be real confusing as several of the artists did this exact sketch, and if you don't see them all often, they can look the same. Given that and the fact that some of the cards didn't get signed by a few of the artists, it can be hard to tell who did what. The only reason I know is because I have been collecting these almost as religiously as Sportkings.

Do you by any chance have any of my Strange Cargo or For a Few Dollars More sketches? Those are the only two I don't believe I've seen pulled.

I have "Strange Cargo", but not "For a Few Dollars More". That's the only one of yours I'm missing. That is, unless you made more than what Breygent shows on their website. I have been searching for that one for a long time now. Please let me know if you run across it. If you'd like to see a scan of "Strange Cargo", I can post it here. It's a nice card!

Yes Peter, believe it or not, last year I added a couple extra steel poles in the basement and jacked up the floor a couple inches as my house was starting to dip in the middle. I don't think it had much to do with the weight as much as that part of the house being built in 1885.

Here's how many of each I did:

Casablanca - 9 (the first one I added to the back "1st Sketch Card", I think that's on Breygent's site)
For A Few Dollars More - 9 (one with color variation)
Citizen Kane - 8
Angels with Dirty Faces - 9 (one with color variation)
The Girl From Missouri - 9 (one with color variation)
An American in Paris - 9
The African Queen - 8
Breakfast at Tiffany's - 8
Bordertown - 10
La Reine Christine - 9 (one with color variation)
The Way of the Dragon - 9 (one with color variation)
Her Husband's Trademark - 8
Cleopatra - 8
Le Fils du Cheik - 8
White Christmas - 9 (one with color variation)
Point Blank - 8
Caccia Al Ladro - 9
Jezebel - 9
Carmen Jones - 9
The Last Gangster - 9
Lolita - 9
Lady L - 9
Strange Cargo - 9 (one with color variation)

I pulled one of my own African Queen sketches from a box. I sent it to a friend.

That has got to be pretty cool pulling one of your own sketches.

I have at least one of every one you just listed save for the For a Few Dollars More. With you making 9 of them, and neither of us ever seeing one, that's fairly strange.

Would it be too much trouble to ask you what the color variations are? I try to get every variation I can find, and since you mentioned last year at some point that you made some of them a little differently, I have been keeping an eye out, but I haven't noticed anything different in any of them. I probably just haven't been good at being observant.

If it's too much trouble, I definitely understand. Keep up the great work!

Thanks,

Matt

It was cool, strange, and disappointing all in one. Definitely a surreal experience.

Not a problem.

For A Few Dollars More - 9 (one with color variation)
8 have the movie title in blue, 1 is white.

Angels with Dirty Faces - 9 (one with color variation)
8 have yellow backgrounds, 1 is red.

The Girl From Missouri - 9 (one with color variation)
8 have a black background, 1 is pink.

La Reine Christine - 9 (one with color variation)
8 have my name in white, 1 is black. I actually screwed this one up and filled in the area with ink before I signed my name, so I forgot to knock out the white part. An unintentional variation.

The Way of the Dragon - 9 (one with color variation)
8 have the title in red type on a black box, 1 has the colors inverted.

White Christmas - 9 (one with color variation)
8 I signed my name in black, 1 I signed in red. The red one was on Ebay...

Strange Cargo - 9 (one with color variation)
8 have a yellow background, 1 is more orange. Another unintentional variation, I grabbed the wrong marker when doing the background.

They aren't HUGE variations, but I figured I'd throw in a few things for collectors to chase. Think of them as 1/1 parallels.

Thank you Ted!

I don't have any of your variations except maybe the "Strange Cargo". It appears you used an orange marker and then went over it with a yellow one as well. If that's what happened, that's the one I have.

I'll be looking for your other variations now, and most definitely NEEDING to acquire "For a Few Dollars More" but hopefully for a few dollars less. I won't hold my breath though.

I don't think I used both yellow and orange together. Perhaps the orange is bleeding a little bit making it look like yellow underneath? But if it's orange-ish, I'm sure that's the variation I did. The yellow is pretty yellow!

I know this is a very old thread, but I came across it as I was trying to find out some info on a Chris Henderson sketch card I just pulled from a pack of 2007 Breygent Movie posters.

I just pulled "the Girl from Missouri" color variation. It is numbered 1/1 on the back. Very nice looking card.
