Yea, but as I mentioned, I don't know how to use photobucket or the similar sites.

Sorry, I didn't realize that.

I think it should bring me $5,000 at least.

I'd obviously like to maximize the amount that I can sell for. Two major reasons, I built this set over a long time and it contains a lot of extra cards...but more importantly, we have our first baby on the way and our living situation is will soon be in flux at our current apartment.

An ungraded MJ will get you nothing much due to the counterfeits.

You can get a BGS 9.5 MJ with 9.5 centering and corners for less than $5k. The other ungraded cards cost $0.99 on average.

Best of luck.

Word of advice - and I'm not trying to be a pain - but you'd be lucky to get 10% of that value if you don't grade the Jordan first.

You are doing the literal opposite of trying to maximize value by selling that thing raw. Anyone that has any clue what they are doing, and has the money to spend, won't touch your value.

Just saying if you truly want to sell you need to get that bad boy to PSA on a quick turnaround.

Perhaps you guys could message me privately next time you have this sort of advice. I appreciate it, but I think it's in poor taste to post something negative like that in someone else's thread.

I've had a few people kick the tires at that price, and I've seen ungraded sets without the multiple doubles/triples/etc go for more than your claim of 10% of my suggested price.

Thanks again for the opinions.

Newer member, 14 posts, raw Jordan that LOOKS like it would grade high but it's not graded and the member wants 5K for the set. Then you're questioning why we'd question the price? You know what with the whole Jordan being the most counterfeited card in the industry. I got nothing, good luck with your sale.

Why? I don't understand why all of the piling on with the negativity.

I guess this is the most counterfeited card, but this one is not. I've owned it since the 80s, I built this set. I have a small, but decent collection and everything is authentic.

Maybe I came to the wrong place, I was hoping to have conversation regarding my collection and to sell most if not all of it. I didn't expect this type of negative response.

What I really can't wrap my head around is the negativity in the thread but then receiving private messages from some of the same guys. They continue to tell me I am asking too much, but they are interested if I will negotiate down. The way I was brought up, that's an odd way to do business.

Oh hell I'll just go with honesty. If they can talk you down and the Jordan and other keys are in high grade they can slab them, flip them, and makes lots and lots of money off you. This is a set where the only reason not to grade the cards is they're fake, they're in bad condition, or you're literally so rich that more money in your bank account isn't needed. So I'll believe you. You have all original high grade 86 fleer singles including a Jordan with great eye appeal. You immediately grade them. There is no reason not to unless they're damaged or fake or you just like giving away free money. So the people trying to talk you down are looking to make money off you not grading. This is a set where psa 10 commons can command decent money. You have nearly 300 cards. If I have to spell this out any clearer than that, he'll sell the Jordan raw. If it comes back a psa 10 and you're out 20 thousand dollars that's on you.

Thank you for the honesty and that sobering info.

I considered getting them graded until I saw home much it would cost me to grade them with PSA. It was mind numbing how much it would cost. I can't afford it, unfortunately. Like I said, the motivation behind offering this for sale is that we have a baby on the way and money is tight.

I really appreciate it, Dax.

I'm not saying send all 300 or whatever it was cards in. But send the KEY cards in. The rookies, Jordan, Barkley, Ewing, yadda yadda yadda and any Jordan stickers you have. The investment vs return is just too high to not do this. You could potentially be ripping YOURSELF off thousands of dollars. Now, there is always the potential they don't come back highly graded. But regardless, the fact that the fakes of these are so nearly perfect now, makes any ungraded key cards extremely difficult to sell unless you're buying in person or the price makes the gamble worth it. Plus if they pay via paypal they'll get 180 days to return them. So they can buy them, grade them, and if it comes back bad on the buyers end you'll have to eat the return. Money that I am certain you'll have need to have spent for the kid.

Regardless, I've probably given you more than you really wanted to know about the insanity that is this particular set of cards. Isn't this hobby fun?

couple photos I found on my desktop

Please note that the camera lens on my phone have a crack in it or something and it leaves a black mark on the top of these two photos. Its the same mark that is on the side of the Jordan rookie photo.

Thanks again, Dax. When I collected all of my stuff as a kid, none of this stuff was a major concern..but maybe that's because I was a kid then. Who knows.
I'm definitely happy that some of my other cards are graded--such as the autographed Gretzky rookie.
