Did you happen to see the SRP on the above card? It explains why your sale says 90% off SRP...

That must be a popular card for those that like to cheat the payout system, if you know what I mean...

You are wet behind the ears. Rather than doing a cashout they "trade" COMC credit. Sometimes cash is involved or cash and cards. I never ask for the exact details, just something I avoid but know that it does happen. I personally have never done and would never even remotely consider doing it.

So you're saying there are people actively violating 2-3 provisions of the System Use agreement? If it's to avoid the cash out fee, or trade off site, this is the type of thing that will lead to that stupid price restriction coming back online.

The thing that gets me about the Emmitt and Texiera card is that they've been dead for years... the Texiera sold once in all of 2013; Emmitt has never sold more than 3 times in a Quarter prior to this October-December 2014 Quarter where the Emmitt moved 43 times and the Texiera moved 28 times. Note that these numbers do not reflect shipped copies.

From what I remember about the SRP details in Tim's blog post, a card has to ship out for the purchase price to count as SRP/SLP; a card that is bought and then resold to a 2nd buyer who ships it home, would have the 2nd seller's paid price factored into WSP and the 2nd buyer's price factored into SRP/SLP. If this is correct, then someone -- for some reason or other -- paid over $500 to actually ship home one of these cards.

On the rankings page of top buyers/sellers, everything is ranked on the basis of SRP. I wonder if I were to buy 10 copies of these cards with their $750 SRP if I'd rank in the top 10 buyers with $7500 SRP purchased? I'm not saying someone paid $500 to ship home junk to boost their port value/rankings, or merely saw an error within the system and is a good businessperson by capitalizing upon it (theres a seller that has 10% of their very large total port value tied into these cards), but it's very interesting that this $.15 Payne Stewart has a $50 SRP:

2001 Upper Deck #139 - Payne Stewart - COMC Online Marketplace

Or this $0.45 Ichiro with it's $30 SRP traded hands 85 times in July-September 2014 (i'm out of points so I can't see how many copies have shipped all-time, or what the high sale price was):

2007 Bowman's Best #4 - Ichiro Suzuki - COMC Online Marketplace

well fezz may have just uncovered a huge money laundering plot!

I just pull all my sales flips on the site from 2008. Some of the better ones:
2008 SK Barry Sanders $57 to $85
2009-10 Bowman 48 Bill Russell $39 to $60
2011 topps andrew mcutchen auto $14.60 to $25
2007 NT Laurance Maroney $8 to $18
2009 Contenders Edelman $17 to $25
2008 topps A&G jed lowrie $0.23 to $0.98
2010 Topps CYMTO OB Verlander $0.35 to $1

Some favs:
Bunch of 2009 Bowman WBC Darvish's Purchased and fliped right away for almost $2 profit on each
Bunch of 2011 Topps Pro Debut Bryce Harpers. purchased and flipped for almost $6 each profit
This one was great: Legarrette blount during his huge game in the playoffs a couple years back $6 profit in less than 2 hours of buying and selling it.

there are plenty of "losses" Stupid kevin oconnell and laurence maroney and that dumb jeff gordon action packed prototype.

port sales skew some numbers so I have some losses which really aren't in the larger picture since I'm up over $500 in general on straight comc flips.

Here are several more examples, although not as drastic as the Emmitt:
2013-14 Score #598 - Tyler Toffoli - COMC Online Marketplace $17.50

2011 Panini Rookies & Stars Breakthrough #14 - James van Riemsdyk - COMC Online Marketplace $10

2000 Upper Deck MVP Second Season Standouts #SS2 - Mariano Rivera - COMC Online Marketplace $7.50

All have been reported several times to no avail...

This question is for all the COMC sellers: are most of your sales for full listed price or best offers?

I price my cards to sell so they're almost always at listed price.

Of my last 327 sales, 165 were sold for full listed price and 162 were sold as offers, so about half and half.

Of the 162 offers, 75 were sold on Amazon, 87 were sold on COMC.

Sales are a mixture of both as stated above. As long as you are competitively priced, you may have more of reg price than the other...

For my January:
  • 331 Cards sold
  • 96 cards of which were sold across 53 accepted "offers"
  • Of the 53 accepted offers, 23 of the offers were from Amazon (automatic sales) and the majority of the rest were sales within my "auto-accept" range.
  • I actually only had to make 7 counter offers in the month and only 2 rejections total from either party. I guess my point is, if the cards are priced right and the seller is motivated, there isn't a whole lot of haggling needed.

this is kind of a bizarre (opposite) post.
TOday someone bought a card from me for 6.79. The card has been onsite for about 4 months. Usually on ebay its a ten dollar card.

I was looking at ports for sale and lo and behold there was that card as the person's highlighted card. I looked and it was listed at 70 dollars. People can price cards however they seem fit, but that one is a head scratcher.

Most of mine are best offers. Especially now since I typically flip ports instead of single cards so my stuff starts a little pricy.

I must be dense - I still don't get what you mean by this lol. I am definitely someone who has bought and sold multiple Texs, Smiths, Ichiros, etc. to help my SRP look better during sales, but I don't get what you mean about trading credit. Could you explain so a five year old could understand?

I should add that I think you guys are saying that to avoid cashout, people sell big SRP lots for more credit/sometimes cash/sometimes cards? Is that what it is? If so...why would the SRP buyers not just buy their own SRP cards. As shown above...there are tons of high SRP/low price cards on the site...

Also to fezziweg - If you bought like 10 of those you would jump up the SRP charts. I know when I had a few such cards I was the number one modern discount seller on the all sellers page. I don't do sales as much now so those cards are typically not in my ports anymore since they're not worth anything outside of SRP boosting.

My First Month- January 5-31, 2015
$1000 start
200 Cards Sold--Bought @$625.09--Sold @$833.28 = $208.19
-$21 (7 sale days)
= $187.19 Profit (30% ROI)

Flips
Best: $14.56
Worst: -$.32
Avg Gain: $1.04
$4+ Gains: 7
$2+ Gains: 18
$1+ Gains: 44

This stuff is pretty addicting!
It seems like "Sales" really boost your sales!

Just thought I'd share. I was very skeptical of COMC at first. I've founds tons of steals. I also overpaid on quite a few cards early on. Awesome site!
