Default What did you get on Free Comic Book Day?

As I stand here at work I can't help but wonder what is going on at all the comic shops I could be at right now. So I thought I could live vicariously through you all. What free books did you get? What deals did you find? Were there any artists at your shops? How long were the lines? I wanna hear it all! Posted from Blowoutcards.com App for Android

I rushed through Midtown's site and hit anything with a zero next to it. Then I started to look at some and thought "why the heck would I want that?" From there on, I at least read the title.

Midtown website is now live (11am)..Able to pick up 1 copy of each Free Comic being released today. All you have to pay is shipping.

I was able to pick up 48 comics for $2.99. Only one worthy of missing out on that I couldn't get was Chakra

Also got all 3 Midtown exclusives. Pretty cool stuff

Yep..as soon as it went live, 2 of them were already greyed out so you couldn't click, didn't really care about either title though. Then I figured the site would bog down so I just went real quick and added everything to my cart. When I clicked checkout it told me Chakra and 1 other comic was removed because it was out of stock. I figured it wouldn't take long before stuff was out of stock or the site got bogged down so I hurried up and checked out.

I went back on the site like 5 min after I placed my order to see if a lot was gone and saw the site was bogged. Taking forever to load, could no longer click anything to add to the cart so I just got off in hopes of a little chance of freeing it up for others.

... still didn't get Star Wars even though I added it to my cart about 20 times until it finally sold out. At that point I had 25 items in my cart, to which only ten remained by the time I was able to checkout. In all about 4 minutes per book.

So my LCS owner greets me at the door once I managed to get in with the line...says "come over here" - hands me an exclusive FCBD tote with a copy of every single book, even though they had a 5 book limit...it even had a letter in it...I'll post them later.

Seriously though?

I F'in love those guys....best LCS hands down.

thanks for the posts and pictures so far. looks like a lot of fun. this has been a bad weekend so far. we got destroyed in softball last night. i broke a finger while playing (although I should still be able to play. it was tip of ring finger on throwing hand) I'm missing fcbd today cuz of work, and now I have mandatory ot tomorrow so I'm going to miss baseball tomorrow. worst part is its a double header and last week coach said he was very impressed with how I've been playing and was going to start giving me more playing time

I actually went to two shops, the first shop limited me to 4 copies, the 2nd shop was one of each title. I really wanted to get the Ugly Doll comic as it's the 1st appearance of Hello Kitty in comics and could be a real sleeper.

Sounds like we hit the same shops Indy, started at CC on the north side and got walking dead, stam engines, Star Wars, and astro for the bodie trolls story. Glad these were all unstamped. Tried going to DC up north but the line was around the corner. Headed to the one on the circle and got just about everything with some duplicates of the issues i really wanted thanks to my girlfriend, who was awesome enough to grab some extras for me, since they had a 1 of each person rule. She wanted a few for her collection anyways.

We each managed to grab a walking dead before they realized they forgot to put stickers on that stack.

Also went to HH in ft square. Had a 1 copy limit, 2 for making a purchase. Ended up using my 50 dollar shopping spree I had saved from their loyalty program and picked up a nice looking copy of WD 29 and some weeklies. Also got a copy of the Little Guardians trade with a pretty awesome sketch in the front that the artist did while we watched. Love supporting the local talent, especially on fcbd.

I once played with a broken hand in a cast on my throwing arm, had to knuckleball throws to first (was playing third base) and also stupidly played with a fractured ankle, I would take off my air cast, play, then put it back on, DUH!!

HH was 1 Copy Limit?! Ouch, he needs to broaden his horizons IMHO. Nice snag on the WD 29

My LCS had a 12 issue limit but didnt look like they were enforcing it but I only took 12 anyway no need to be a glutton. I also passed on a free graphic novel, figured it would be one more for a potential kid.

It was 2 if you bought something, but they only had 10 different books. Mostly kids. I got an extra bodie troll and a Sesame Street for my niece.

Saw 2 copies of 29 in the long boxes last nit, Almost picked up Both, but heard they might discount back issues for fcbd. They didn't and someone snagged one of them in the meantime.

I agree, mostly go to DC on the circle Wednesdays since I work downtown, that way I know I'll get the books I want.

HH is pretty hit or miss as far as having new releases in stock, but sometimes it's a treasure trove when news hits.
