Default Favorite Pick-ups: February 2017

Haven't been picking up many non-sports singles these past few months. Not much new stuff that catches my interest, but I did manage to find two listings in last month that fit nicely into my collection.

Black Cat PSC by Tony Perna, Poison Ivy by Amber Shelton from DC Supervillains

I told my gf I wanted to start a Xena collection (I'm late to that party, I know) and she decided she'd put together a hobby box of sorts for me. She got a bunch of complete sets, base and inserts, and these hits for me to open. She even went as far as wrapping like 50 packs. It was great.

Just got my all time favourite non sports piece, The Road to El Dorado holds a special place in my heart for me and my relationship with my grandmother so I reached out to Carlos Grangel who was a great guy and was a character designer on the movie and he did this, cost a pretty penny but worth every one, can't wait to get it framed during the week

Very nice sketches Spiderfan, both artists I'd like to add to my collection.

My pickups are pretty slow going but I managed to find one last month.

Picked up a box of Dangerous Divas Series 2 from Blowout and pulled a sketch of one of the 3 Marvel characters I collect: Shadowcat sketch by Carlos Cabaleiro!

First time I've pulled one of the 5 comic characters I collect from a sealed box. And the box purchase got me a Midwest Regional #1 Seed in the March Gladness promo!

Nice pickup! This card along with the Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider auto (from the first movie) are my favorite actress autos. It's always nice to see them every now and then on the boards.

As for me, I picked up a big fat nothing in February. It's kind of nice not to spend any money lol. However, I did make a small purchase on March 4th, but I'll post that on next month's thread.

That's good stuff right there. Great to pull a character you collect and, even better, when it's a nice sketch that's been hiding in a box for years.

I had a few commission projects that I thought might be done in Feb, but most got delayed until March (which is looking crazy right now if everything falls into place). I did get one super awesome commission project completed with the Glebe's. They got the OK from the powers that be to work on these, and since they posted this one on their FB page, I'll show it off as well.

I was actually surprised when I pack pulled (from TF Optimum Coll) a really nice Sam Witwicky puzzle sketch of the movie scene with him holding the Allspark. Having that, I now needed a nice Mikaela Banes for my collection. The Glebe's came through with a hot one! There's other super sweet stuff from this project, but I'll save it for whenever I can get my collection page up.

I don't know what "approved" means for Breygent products. Much of what comes out of products like SDCC Mystery Packs could not possibly have been approved by anybody with the authority to do so. The companies that actually license the rights to use those characters don't even have approval to include sketch likenesses of the characters coming out of those packs. Just another reason I chose not to support them.

I have no idea, I got no choice though as it's the only TF sketch set with nice to awesome level sketches (even though there's also plenty of duds to go around), and there probably wont be another as sales were bombing when it hit the market (I actually brought this set up to a level of respectability when I started supercollecting it). So I gotta make do with what I got available to get awesome TF stuff.

Well it only sat on Ebay for like a year before I finally came to terms with the guy, but I got my matching Lisbeth Salander piece. Noomi Rapace to match my Rooney Mara. Both 11x14 and both vertical orientation.

Does your friend normally carry around photos and hope he runs into celebrities? Because if so that's kinda funny. Cool regardless.

Hey I once had a piece of wood (long story) autographed by Kane Hodder. He thought it was hilarious once it was explained to him. But yeah I could see creepy. All depends on the context.
