Default Looks like Wade Phillips really was a terrible coach

I know some teams play better when there is change but the Cowboys look like a totally different team under Jason Garrett. They are 3-1 since he took over beating the Giants in NY/NJ, Indy in Indy, they played New Orleans real tough.

They could finish around 7-9 after their terrible start. As a Giants fan I have to root for them down the stretch which pains me.

I don't know he is getting to use a different QB too, I think that plays in a bit Kitna is playing really good.

Wade Phillips as HC - 68% pass, 32% run
Jason Garrett as HC - 50% pass, 50% run

And Jason Garrett has been calling plays the entire season.

Just food for thought.

Indy and Dallas both need a new defense.

They are going to be scary next year when Romo is back and they have a more balanced attack. Its real hard to win in the NFL when you either throw a ton more than you run or vice versa.

Look at Indy this year. They have no run game and Peyton has thrown 11 INT's in 3 games! Eli never did that because he has a running game.

I know that is a joke but the numbers are not that far apart and Eli has been without his top wide outs for a few weeks now.

Peyton 24 TD's 15 INT's 3709 Yards 89.4 Rating - 309.1 Yards Per Game - 66.1%
Eli 23 TD's 17 INT's 2982 Yards 88.6 Rating - 248.5 Yards Per Game - 64.8%

Eli is a lot more careless with the football 7 fumbles 5 lost

Let's compare Super Bowl MVP awards...I think they are exactly equal. Neither is better than the other.

Before you give Eli the best Manning QB award by comparing stats, how about putting up a comparison of Giant and Colts players on injured reserve. I would say Peyton is playing with a lot less of a team this year than Eli is.

Luis Sojo has more World Series rings than Ted Williams, Carl Yaztremski, and Ernie Banks combined. How the hell is he not in the Hall of Fame?

OKay for starters I never ever said Eli was better than Peyton. Thats #1. Secondly I would say Eli has been without two of the NFC's better wide outs in Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks. He is working with the likes of Mario Manningham who is very good, Derek Hagen who has been on a few different teams, Michael Clayton who has not had any time to remember the playbook.

Thirdly.....this post is about Wade Phillips and the fact that he is a terrible coach.

Not a good point. He never won an MVP award like Eli and Peyton, or Ted Williams, Carl or Ernie.

He's still got more rings Baseball and Football are team games. I think that individual MVP awards are somewhat overated in HOF voting. If you worked your a$$ off and helped a team win titles, you shouldn't be viewed completely different just because you didn't get the MVP award.

No, he's right. It was a terrible point. Please insert Edgar Renteria's name where Luis Sojo's was.

Yea, I guess what I'm trying to say is that championships would not be won w/o contributors. The MVP isn't the sole reason that the team won.

I agree 100%. I was just trying to have some fun with a silly statement. I just got off the phone with Eli and he said he could'nt carry his brothers jock.

Why is this always the excuse people throw out there? Cant it just be said that P. Manning has been awful the past 3+ weeks? 11 picks in 3 weeks is terrible, no matter who your WR/RBs are. Manning is usually great at reading defenses - all of a sudden, it seems like he cant read them at all.

And Jason Garrett has been calling plays the entire season.

Just food for thought.

two things:
(1) they lost the starting QB, Wade had Romo in there...game plan is going to be different with the backup.
(2) Wade may have wanted it this way...Garrett may be running the O, but the head coach has the ultimate call as to what the game plan will be.

i don't think you can read much in to those numbers other than Dallas should have been running more to begin with...which everyone already knew.

also...Romo needs to go...I'm a Cowboys fan myself, and he looks great at times and horrible at others...i can't deal with that...i'd rather have a QB that is consistant...Romo throws some stupid INT's that would make Favre laugh...and lets not even discuss that playoff game in Seatle a while back where Romo duffed the hold and lost the game on a short FG...I wanted him gone then.

I think Dallas will drop one game to Philly and win out...which screws up our draft pick position in an otherwise wasted season....great.

An interesting point was brought up on talk radio today. How many teams would even hire Wade as a coordinator little lone head coach? I don't see any teams in the top half of the league doing so which would tell you how he rates as a head coach. I've watched a team with a lot of talent have a couple good regular seasons go nowhere in the playoffs. Similar to the Chargers and oh by the way Norm is a similar style coach to Wade. Just do see that style of coaching get much success.

That would be cool.

However as much as I love Eli and my Giants, he is no Peyton. But hey, I got to see my team win the big one a couple years ago an a lot of other guys can't say that so I'm happy with the Manning we got.
