Default Donruss Rated Rookies Question

I could not find anything by searching, but the rookies have versions with a really light shaded box on the bottom (where an autograph sticker would fit) and others do not. Does anybody know if it is a planned variation or just not caught by anybody? Thanks.

I've seen these as well. I think they all do, it's just easier to depict on some. I think it's Panini's way of saving a few bucks during the printing process (see the John Wall thread about all the base cards having the autograph notation on the back of the card).

They make a single print run, and then just add numbering or the autos to them

If you look at the two cards in the scan, I do believe some do not have it as his skates are more light than the other card without the box. I was just curious because somebody was more interested in the ones with the light boxes over the *plain* ones.
