Default How many new members for the challenge?

How many people do you think will make their first post in the CHALLENGE thread that Pat created?

is this another challenge thread? whats the prize?

im guessing 75% of the people who will post will have 5 posts or less and that the winner will probably have less than 3 posts LOL

ehh it doesn't matter. participation is participation. 1 post or 500. i can see how it would bite at some of us if someone with 1 post won as opposed to people who contribute regularly to the community...but at the same time, its all promotion, marketing, etc. in the long run stuff like this helps chris and co. get paid.

but it would still suck if someone with one post won LOL

1 post or 500 doesn't mean that you are new or old it just means that you either like to type alot or not. It could also mean you don't care anything about just writing a post to pad your total. In other words theres no senior members here just some with signatures and I don't care who wins.

Very well put. There are alot of members who prefer to read, not write.

Here is my view, since I am a "newbie". First off you will notice that I have not participated in the contest. The reason is that I would feel like I am taking advantage of the site by doing so. But, I would not fault anyone for doing it. I personally just found this board a week or so ago. Isn't the purpose of contests and such to draw in more traffic? Well that takes new members to do so. And if there is no stipulation for the contest, then you can't blame them for wanting to participate. I joined this board because I love the hobby and even though I may not be posting here much, it doesnt mean that I don't read nearly every thread posted. I have bought multiple cases from blowout and plan on continuing to do so in the future. I have heard people say that they have left beckett to come here or other places to avoid the foolishness that goes on over there. Well, knocking other members will send this board in the same direction as beckett if you arent careful. I am not putting anyone down, just giving my point of view. And for those of you who do not know me, I am a well respected online trader with over 1,000 completed trades, so I speak with atleast a little knowledge. Good luck to everyone in the contest (newbies and oldbies).

i agree - the point is to bring in more traffic and advertise. Its a must for their business... i think we just find the number of new members that pop up just for the contest is comical. ... thats all.

Sorry if this thread caused issues for anyone. Never did I say anything negative about new members, we were all new at one time, right? I wanted people to take a shot at predicting how many people would make their very first post in that thread.

People seem to get really worked up about post counts, but that is not what this thread is about. It's about showing how many new people join the site when blowout does these types of promotions.

I have been reading this board for well over a year and it has indeed changed. I have only been posting for a short time however. I can understand how both the long time posters and the "newbies" feel because of my long time reading and short time posting. The board has been a great way for people to share ideas and provide info on the hobby as well as new and old product. Although I do not sell or buy on ebay, I can appreciate it when a board member warns of an ebayer to keep away from. I know I would. Chris is also a terrific hobby info provider. When all of this is put together perhaps the "newbies" can understand why some of the seasoned members get upset when someone new to the boards does nothing but try to "get in on the action" so to speak. It is also frustrating even to me after reading the board for so long to see new comers do nothing but try to sell their stuff and not participate in any other way. However, there also seems to be some new people who are taking an interest in what evryone else has to say and also partake in the sharing of info and the fun stuff that goes on. Sorry for the long message but I do see both sides. Just my opinion of course.
