Default Joe Thornton hall of fame or complier?

I say compiler. Is he a hall of famer. My gut says no.

Thoughts?

Compiler.

Couldn't lead a loaded Sharks team to a Cup and often disappears in big games.

Thornton is hurt by several things, most notably the fact that people see him as a guy who not only hasn't won a Cup, but who has severely underperformed during the post season. Also, his lack of production at the beginning of his career causes his overall regular season point totals to be barely a point per game. Yes, he did win a Hart Trophy and an Art Ross and has finished in the top 5 in scoring several times, but that might not be enough, as his best years are behind him at this point. I see him as being comparable perhaps to Bobby Smith. But if he somehow manages to win a Cup then I could see him being compared instead to Denis Savard, who did make the HOF.
