Default Billy Hamilton.. Overrated??!!??

after all he only had one or two good season. But he only played 80 games when he batted 320.. but has been around 270 most of his minor league career. IMO i think he is kind of a hype because of his speed. I dont think he can steal more than 50 bags in the majors. Thats what i think, i hear all these Red fans getting all hyped about Billy Hamilton. I justed wanted to hear u guyz's opinion.

If he gets on base and provides the positive baserunning he can provide, while playing a premium position, he's pretty awesome.

If the Reds turn him loose on the basepaths when he comes up he will break records. He is That fast. He may not hit for a high average but his OBP will still be decent.

yea the thing is IMO, there are so many more prospects who can hit better with decent speed.

Tell him to crowd the plate and get on base anyway he can, and he will be successful.

I wonder if the Reds'll try and set up a pre-game ceremony where Hamilton races against Usain Bolt.

It won't matter what he hits, like others said, he just needs to get on base.

Even if he has an OBP hovering around .300 at the Major League Level, he's going to be like the "shift disturber" in hockey.

Pitchers will be so concerned with him on 1B that they will inevitably not pitch as well to the batter.
