Default The Fantastic Store (VA)

Anyone ever been? Is it a normal card shop, or is it just a storefront for BO orders?

I go there. I wouldn't say its a normal card shop yet. They primarily sell boxes, packs and supplies. The Beckett's are really cheap ($5). They have a few singles but don't expect much yet. I say yet because I spoke to the manager and he said they're going to start selling singles but had an issue with display space.

They're good with packs because most of them are behind counters so no pack searchers. I have gotten two auto's from the packs at The Fantastic store.

Personally, The Fantastic store is my favorite in the area.

So the lowest point on the calendar for baseball is driving me nuts. I need some baseball cards.

I find myself working in the mountains above Strasburg, VA.

This puts the Fantastic Store possibly within reach for me on a rainy day.

I was hoping they would be open late one night a week, like till 8pm.

But their hours are Tuesday - Saturday till a 6pm close each day.

One thing I have learned in my travels is how much I dislike the traffic in northern Virginia, on any type of road, from freeways to backroads. Normally, I live and work in counties that have exactly zero 3-light stoplights. Sucks for collecting baseball cards, but is one heckuva lot less stressful in many other ways.

I would greatly appreciate any tips on driving to the Fantastic Store from the Winchester/Strasburg/Front Royal area. Even if I was fortunate to be able to go in the early afternoon, I fear even the return to the west would be a little frustrating. I would probably solve that by going to any nearby Mexican joint for a nice leisurely long dinner.

P.S. If anyone is up for ripping some 16/17 O-Pee-Chee Hockey, 2014-2016 now discounted Flagship Topps baseball, or maybe some 2017 Topps Series One baseball and then trading on the results, in person, well I hope to make this trip a reality at some point over the next six weeks. But my schedule is 100% weather dependent.

I think your best bet is getting a Mexican dinner at Anita's or Guapo's nearby. Otherwise you might be able to avoid some traffic on 50/66 next Friday when the Feds in DC are closed for the day.

Myself, I'll be heading to SNP for a nice day of hiking and beer tasting next Friday.
