Default 2014 Topps Archives - Major League (The Movie!) but... uhmm....

2014 Topps Archives Preview | Sports Collectors Daily | Sports collecting news

This is awesome, as many baseball fans hold Major League as their favorite movie.

However. . . one slight issue in this workup...

Who the hell is JACK Taylor?

Maybe there's a corrected version with JAKE...

Are we really surprised Topps screwed something up?

Yup. One for Omar Epps, the other for Wesley Snipes.

Seriously, since this Major League, not ML2, it should only be Snipes..... my guess, though, is that his auto is too expensive for Topps.

Great idea for Topps! I just hope the Major League autos aren't too limited.

Would be nice to see the movie trend continue with The Natural, The Sandlot and many others.

Too bad Topps didn't do anything with the Sandlot this year since it was the movies 20th year anniversary this year. Maybe 5 years from now topps will do something with the 25th anniversary

Not bad, but didn't they just do 1980 in the 2012 Archives?

I actually liked the 1989 design- only thing that bugged me was the somewhat arbitrary color scheme for some of the teams (aka the pink for the Indians).

The 1986 cards I don't really feel the need to see again. Between those and the 1990 set from this year's set, seems like they're including some clunkers.

I do like the Archives sets, but I'd still love to see it transition from encompassing 4 seasons to just 1. Basically a Heritage type set running through the seventies and eighties. 50 of four different 'base' years, plus 50 more SPs representing a mishmash of additional years just doesn't seem real cohesive, especially when the years range from 1973 to 1989. That's one set from before I was born, and one set that I clearly remember buying multiple wax boxes of as a teenager. There's not a lot in common there. I'd rather see all 250 on the 1973 or 1980 design. The latter of which Heritage may never reach.

Given Snipes' tax troubles and lack of doing anything noteworthy for the last 10 years...I would have to think he'd be willing to sign 1,000 things for a McDonald's value meal...

The year selections are pathetic. Why would they keep doing the overproduced 80s?

And yes, they just did 1980 last year. Why again? Where's 1978? 1976? 1974?

Umm

Nevermind. "1971-72 Topps hockey designs"

At least they're aware that this is in fact not a baseball design

Aren't several cast members of The Sandlot in jail?

I hope the Fan Favorites autos aren't a weak checklist like last years.

I have fond memories of the 87-88 Topps. 86, 89 and 90 were kind of horrible, though.

I actually think it would be neat if they had these actors sign as the character names instead of their real names.

I hope they can sign some more guys, they had a good cast of Heavy Metal Rockstars but their Karate Kid checklist was too short. Think I'll pick up the Indians in some group breaks for this though

Better handle those Rick Vaughn autos with gloves. The amount of STD residue will be impressive.

I'm thinking the Pedro Cerano autos would cost quite a bit as well.

Wonder what Jobu's doing these days....

then why sign at all?

auto of a movie character? How would you prove it was even the actor who did it?
