Guys I am completely out of my element with basketball products. Just wanted to know from some basketball experts if Topps Basketball is a year to year good money maker. I looked the product over and it looks like jumbos should break pretty well with an auto per box, a relic per box, a rip card guaranteed per case and a premiere auto per case. What do the experts think?

Quite honestly it is hard to make money with basketball. People dont really buy many sets especially low end and unless you get a good auto you cant recover your box cost. Game used are pretty worthless. Oden is with Topps and he will be in demand but looking at the checklist the other autos are kind of weak(no Shaq or Iverson but you can get Smush Parker!) and the rookies are not listed(at least not on the checklist blowout has listed). I know everyone is excited about the upcoming basketball year but the Finest was a real dud and I cant see where this will be much better. It says alot to me that they felt they needed a gimmick in this product-the rip card. I would be cautious unless you get an updated checklist for the rookies/autos.

Good enough for me. I'm out. I appreciate the info.
it should be an easy money maker as long as you keep it on a small scale so you can sell through quickly.

I agree. Premiere Autos, Rip Card, Auto & GU per box, Copper's and this year's rookie class should make this a decent break.

Does anyone know how many rookies you should get per jumbo pack?

I haven't ripped any cases of hoops in years. I figured this is the year to give it a shot with this draft class. I "pre-booked" a case of jumbos but its a crap shoot as to wether I'll actually get a whole case because its a Topps product. If the jumbos are selling hot I probably have no shot at a whole case.

I'm in on a case so we'll see what happens. Base sets are smaller than last year, really hoping rookies aren't short printed. Given the #'s on jumbo's hopefully can make 2 sets per box (or with a case get a decent # for player lots). Hoping they maybe put some basketball fantasy cards in these (similar to the football)....we'll see. Should have my case on Friday so will get needs posted asap (will be sporatic thanks to 2 days worth of rescue activites and a day of goose hunting/waterfowl festival)
