Holy crap. That is the worst looking set I have seen in a long time.
“never-before-seen designs, substrates and parallels”
So Unparalleled is full of Parallels?

.... I..... they.... but.... no, I don't have anything. These could look great in person, but the pictures are meh. Almost like they felt Spectra this past year wasn't extreme enough in its design so they decided to take it up another notch. But, I'll be focusing on prizm longer it seems

I will say it is different. What's with just one auto per box? Again, I don't see getting your money's worth.

Man, those take ugly to a whole another level. Football is crazy flooded now with products. I don't think the market can sustain 30 sets a year. Looking back this past year, (I only bought 1.5 boxes of base topps, and a smattering of target blasters of chrome, heritage, prizm, and prizm draft). I noticed I had 6 different Gurley cards. I am sure if I looked, some of the other rookies may be the same way. I can't imagine how many of each rookie somebody has if they bought into cases of different sets. How can any of that hold any value?

If you count college products and sage, leaf, upper deck then there were 45 sets last year. 32 if you don't want to count those sets.

Is it wrong that I actually like these? They remind me of the bad 90s pacific prism inserts. It's kind of "so bad it's good".

I think the designs are very nice, however don't like the foil appearance. That pivotal drive card will be in my PC when this product comes out so I will be buying some singles.

45!! Holy Cow. So we are truly in the second wave of the over-produced junk era. Although I could easily be convinced that we never left. Early 2000's did seem to have somewhat less cards every year.

I won't know until I see in person. But, I'm a fan of different.
Spectra, High Tek.. Maybe these. They remind me of 90s inserts. I kida wish they would go back to just having foil inserts in an otherwise base product. But, These are as close as we are going to get.

Agreed, draft diamonds is a cool concept.
The designs seem a little weird but also seems like they might look better in person rather than on a computer.

No, not even close.. most products are extremely short printed compared to the early 90s era even if you combine them.
And you are wrong about Early 2000s. We had Fleer, Topps, Pacific, DLP, Sage, Press pass, Collectors edge, etc. All making alot of products.
The only real thing that has changed is price point. Every product on average costs more.

by definition - it means "not paralleled"

Looking at COMC, you are absolutely correct. 2006 has around 75 product listings, 2015 has around 65. Not that much difference. So in essence we have never left the over-production era. It has just shifted the parameters a bit with higher end/parallels and the illusion of less cards. I guess technically there are less cards with the sets having smaller checklists and some smaller print runs. Still a ton of each player being produced year in and year out.

Anytime a company uses the word substrate in describing one of their products they're trying too hard.

Yep. Competition is good for a lot of things, but stopping overproduction ain't one of them.

Same thing in the baseball section. Crying they hate Topps and wont buy 2016 Finest baseball....yet they buy Finest baseball.

I bought one box because I was bored while waiting for someone to meet me before taking a trip. I got a nice card, and kept going. I will accept this statement and own up to s*** talking this product, and eventually doing about 15 boxes.
I for sure will stay away from this. i learned my lesson with High-Tek, and this seems to be the Panini Version of that set.

But the biggest difference is that we had vendor option. I could drink grape, orange, or cherry Kool Aid. Now i'm stuck with just the green crap that stays on the shelf at Wal Mart until they blow it out at half price. Sound about right?

I think this brand is aesthetically similar to some we have seen before -- definitely has a following. Also think real cards will look better than mocks.

Panini has now shifted from lazy design to aggressively terrible. I understand taste is completely subjective, but my god there has to be some standard of design and content.
Its truly incredible how bad these cards look. The player on the 'action shot' cards are so reduced in size they take up approx a quarter of the space being relegated to the corner, while floating in a miasma of Northern Light-like phantom zone. This is the 'graveyard' or 'suicide' soda mixtures of card design.
And of course the tried and true giant player heads staring at the camera, helmet off. Who doesnt want to gaze into Jameis Winston's rapey eyes? Oh and need to make sure it says "U N P A R A L L E L E D" on the front while also having the "U" logo. Plus the seizure inducing foil madness. Plus sticker autos. Plus eight parallels, which is so ironic and classicly Panini tone-def its almost like it was done intentionally.
The first 4 or 5 products they are releasing are just simply forgettable. This one is actively offensive. But at least I'll remember it now.

i agree with you completely, and the last 3 sentences are so bad, I hope Panini has some Aloe for that burn. I literally said "Ohhhhhhhhhh" after I read that, but it is the truth.
Prime Sigs, I did a 180 around, and the only other product I think looks nice is elite, but am still waiting to see the actual cards before making a final judgement.
All the other previews, I think look downright hideous.
