"You might want to check those box scores closely to see if you’re a winner in our latest in-product game, “Double Play,” which is only found in 2016 Topps Baseball Series 2.
But first, you’ll have to make a choice when you pull the Double Play cards - rip it or keep intact.
Screen Shot 2016-06-20 at 11.17.50 AMDouble Play is a new game added to 2016 Topps Baseball Series 2 with baseball fans rooting for the player on the card to fulfill his predicted event. For example, if you rip the card and the mini card inside says Mike Trout hits a home run on September 18, 2016, - and he hits a home run on that date – you win the prize listed on the mini card.
The prizes range from a unique Topps card, an autograph card, memorabilia, MLB authentic items, a trip to the World Series, the All-Star Game, and much more.
No mini card is the same either.
There will never be a card that has the same player, date, event or prize listed on it making each rip mini card a 1-of-1. But the only way to find out what’s inside is to rip the other card.
Of course, you can always keep the outer card intact, leaving the mini a mystery and adding another unique card to your collection.
Q. What happens if the player is on the DL at the time of the date listed on the card?
A. The player is not eligible to win anything.
Q. What if the game is rained out?
A. The prize card is only eligible for the date in question, not any make-up games.
Q. If my player meets the requirements, how do I redeem the card?
A. The card needs to be mailed into Topps on the address listed on the back of the mini card.
Q. How do I know what prize I have won?
A. The prize is listed on the front of the mini card.
Click here (http://www.topps.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/DOUBLE_PLAY_PROMO_Draft_Rules42416.pdf) to see the full rules."

I wonder if some would sell better ripped if it were like a feasible feat with a nice prize. For instance the world series tickets plus Corey Seager winning ROY or something.

Completely random guess with no basis behind it but I imagine the really good prizes will be on the rip cards that are a specific date. The ones with month long play periods will probably have the lower end prizes. I guess we really won't know until people actually rip them. Hopefully the feat is attainable and not like a 4 HR game or something like that. I realize stuff will be in there for the World Series tickets but hopefully they're not all nearly impossible. I'd also wonder if the better prizes are with pitchers with specific dates since they won't even be playing on those dates more than likely.

That's probably a good guess. Has anyone been ripping these? Don't think there's a ripped one on Ebay right now though I could have missed it. Curious to see some of the single game feats.

Little info to pass along.
So there was an Eaton one listed twice on one days that didn't sell. I messaged the seller this morning making an offer for the card. Very nice guy, responded with he had ripped the card and would send me photos.
The mini as everyone stated was a stamped 1/1. The feat was 2 hits some day in August. The prize a double play set /50.
Why would I send in a 1/1 to never get in back for that....loads of potential here but not a fan.

Thanks for the info. They really don't send the card back? Man, there should be a code on the back or something instead of having to lose the 1/1.
I still like the concept though, even if the player doesn't achieve the particular feat you still have a 1/1. Kinks to work out, but it's a solid concept.

They forgot this important question:
Q: What if the player is suspended for failing a drug test?
I saw a Dee Gordon rip card for early July.

You mail in the card but there's no indication you won't get it back.

I suppose that is an assumption on my part. But a redemption....is a redemption. I give you something and get what is listed in return. Will see, would I chance losing a 1/1 of my player....not a chance.

I opened mine, I had a ton of offers at $75 for it, but I like Lindor and figured I would rather rip and keep the 1/1 for that price instead of selling it. I will let you guys comment on it before I share my thoughts.

Topps doesn't honor the trip giveaways anyway.
I can't even get Topps to authentic a few autographed baseballs. No COA, JSA or anything.
I guess what I'm saying is don't waste your time on Topps and these type of promotions.

There are tons of rc cards, so who knows what specific card it is. I asked Topps, but who would expect and answer. I agree, if that's the card it is pointless.

Do you have to submit the card to Topps for the prize? The rip card by itself is far more valuable than that.

outside of the 1/1 trip prizes and the /5 game used jersey's there isn't a prize valued at more than $110. And that is an officially licensed jersey not even game used. lol
There are 1,000 total prizes with a estimated value of $59,550 which averages out to $59.55 per prize. But again take away the big dollar 1/1 prizes and that makes 994 feasible prizes valued at $47,550 or an average value of $47.83

The mini is a 1/1 inside a 1/1 - of the same player. Big difference from the A&G rips, no?
I mean, if you rip the card, you still have a 1/1, guaranteed. So I can't see the value changing much. ?
What if the prize is a whole set of 1/1 cards? (Did I read part right?)
Also just curious of the definition of "Trip to..." = just tickets? A little bumming-around money too?
I seriously doubt I will hit any of these (are they Hobby only?), but it is cool that they are in Series 2, which is produced in smaller quantity than S1/Update.
Ottomatic
06-26-2016, 11:50 AM
Yeah I'm not too caught up on the average value of the prizes, there are some nice things, and there are some not so nice things. But you are still getting a 1/1 mini that player collectors will like regardless.
Either way I think Series 2 was bad, but this is a neat little concept.

Yea, u figure these would be the ones with the big prizes...if 'X' is rookie of the year or cy young, etc...except, you got guys like Luis Severino on the Bay with November under his name, who won't win anything!!!

My problem is why in the world would you make a $10 RC prize all but impossible to obtain. 40 hits in an all star shortened month and you get a rc card? I just don't understand.

Why did all of a sudden these start to sell like hot cakes on eBay
And some for reallllly stupid money
Ie, Bryce Harper and Machado
Darvish sold, Sale, Scherzer, familia, posey, moustakas, etc

Dunno, just guessing here.

Prize could be anything
Not sure that's not as random as some people might think.
The accomplishment on the other hand is what I would question first.
50 K's in the month of June? Maybe only 30?
Era or whip lower than 'x'
Less than 'x' walks
He didn't have the best month...a few wins, era high because of his last outting, whip could've been better a few games.
Who knows? I say open and see. Worst case, you have the 1/1 mini

Apparently topps knew that the Indians are going to play a bunch of 19 inning games this month making forty hits obtainable for Lindor. 3 down, 37 to go.

I did a little more research. Was interested to know how many cards were released and how many players have a card in this.
Most players have 5 or more.
There's 1000 cards that have been released
There's over 100 players in this set
The set is out of the question for me!
I'm super curious if the prizes are done by random or not. There's about a dozen cards that have he month November on them, but I can't see anybody that really stands out to say, their November card will win...if it's winning an award this season.
I have 3 cards and am going to open them after the date printed on the card, only if the player had a stellar game.

In the future, obviously is an unknown
Now, your value on the card inside will be determined by the prize and the feat attached I believe.
There are prizes worth $10-$50. If that's what you have won, that's the worth imo.
If you won the World Series trip or a game used jersey, obviously, you'd be able to sell it for more.
If he didn't complete the feat, it's whatever a 1/1 is worth of the player. I have no idea what kinda following he has with supercollecters.
