What I mean by this is a late bloomer like himself when his career didn't take off until his thirties. I know about the steroid allegations, but say Gonzalez was a rookie in 2010 instead of 1990. I would think teams would've given up on him and moved on to the next hot prospect by 2020 rolled around. Would like to hear some thoughts about this and if the journeyman starting position player is dead.

I think his explosion onto the scene can all be credited to roids. He was always a decent hitter but once the power came on everyone took notice of his stats.

Jose Bautista. More power and not hinting he juiced but didn't make an impact until he was 29.

Luis Gonzalez is a pretty common name, I'm sure there will be another one.

This. Zobrist is another one. There will always be late bloomers. Particularly in this day in age where teams will even keep a player who is ready down an extra year just for control.
