Hey everyone. I'm the moderator of BO's All-Time NBA Draft, and I am about to run a third edition to help with the offseason boredom.

Here are the last two threads

http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/basketball/999359-bo-all-time-nba-draft-v-2-thread.html

http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/basketball/969766-bo-all-time-nba-draft-thread.html

Last time, there were 16 teams that selected 10 players via a draft in snake order. Tournament spots were randomized and winners were selected through votes.

Since, we've been doing drafts with player from all of NBA History, I wanted to do something different this time around. I'm making this thread to get a gauge of what members want to do this time.

We basically have two options. We can...

A) Do another All-Time draft

or

B) Do a draft with only current players

or

C) something other idea you know of

So I'll use this thread to get an understanding of what we want to do and who wants to participate. Another thread will be up after we know what we are doing and we will finalize participants.

Thanks for reading and please let me know if you have any questions?

Current players only should be fun

Last year, I joined a draft for current player with salary cap. It was fun.

However, some people continued to mess up the draft. One continued to draft after his cap was used. One continued to use the wrong salary. We did not last until the voting.

True in nature, but all contracts weren't signed and then while we were drafting the contracts were signed... Really hampered the draft.

A salary cap is a good idea but I imagine it'd be hard to keep track of. Plus there are still steals like Curry on cheap contracts and other stars with max contracts.

Current players would be fun I think

Salary information can easily be found in google. It was not that hard.

The whole point of the draft was to pick players for the best value. People didn't like it because they overspent the money for the starters, and ended up digging minimum salary players for the bench.

Current players, though I would say that the person that gets last pick in the first round should get first pick in the second and third rounds (and then fourth round goes back to a regular snake draft) as the gap between LeBron James (Example) and DeMarcus Cousins (Example) is huge. Use 2015-16 salaries and exclude 2016 draft picks that way it runs as smooth as possible.

Good Idea, I think this list is fairly accurate
NBA Player Salaries - National Basketball Association - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nba/salaries)

I'm also thinking instead of a $70 million cap, we do a $70 cap and round salaries up to the nearest ten. As in, LeBron's $22,970,500 yearly salary would equate to $23 for our draft. Would this work do you think?

Let's bump this. I'm liking the salary cap idea with current players
