Two people really want that card.

I was actually getting ready to make a thread on this today. I am the second high bidder on this item from seller danjess33.

I was bidding on the card and I bid all the way up to $1150 and was still not the high bidder. At this point, I gave up on it and went about my way. Not long after I find out I am the high bidder again because the previous high bidder had retracted. This user id shows as i**m (49). Then shortly after that, an (8) feedback bidder bid it all the way back up and outbid me again.

So now I am suspicious and begin to do some digging. With only looking at the first couple pages of the sellers completed listings I found out the following. The (49) feedback bidder that retracted his bid, has bid on all of the sellers $200+ items, but only won two, both of which were relisted. I don't understand why, if a bidder is winning and not paying (item being relisted), then why does he continue to accept bids from this individual on literally every item of value he sells.

I have discussed this with two individuals known for their shiller detective work, and both agree that this stinks of manipulation.

Here are the auctions where the i**m (49) bidder is involved. Again, these are just from the first page and a half of completed auctions so there are likely more than just these. The seller also appears to be a member on here under the same ID.

Here are auctions with the i**m (49) participating

Both i**m (49) and a***q ( 8 ) are the seller or a friend of his i'm guessing. I'd retract your bids if I was you. That dude is clearly shilling all his high dollar auctions.

EDIT: a***q ( 8 ) may be a real person who just really wants the card, but i**m (49) is almost definitely a shill account IMO since you see that ID show up in almost every one of those auctions you listed, usually near the end. Classic shilling tell there. He of course relists if he wins under i**m (49) since it him! lol

Yeah, it is soooo disheartening as I really want this card for my Thompson collection. I was ready to give up collecting CP3 for this card. Now... I really want it but man... I hate scammers, I don't want to give this guy my money when he is trying to manipulate me. I'm not sure how it works though, if the (8) feedback bidder retracts his bid, it will retract all of his bids right?

See, I try to do that as well, but I was oubid early, and was trying to reclaim the high bid. Mostly because I figured if I waited until the end and did a snipe bid, it wouldn't be high enough to win. I honestly had no clue on a market value for this card given the set and the Cavs winning Championship. My max bid probably would have been around $600-$700 but because I wasn't retaking the lead I kept bidding higher to find out where this bidder was. Eventually it got up to 1150 and I still was not the high bidder at which point I said screw it, there is no cardboard I am willing to pay $1200 for, and gave up on it.

I think you have to retract each bid individually but i'm not positive about that. Here's what eBay says about bid retractions: Bidding overview (http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bidding-overview.html#change)

This cracked me up....$1150 :)! ....$1200 no effing way :D

I'm just busting you a little, I totally get it though and hate the crap we have to deal with in this hobby and shilling is near the top of the list.

Retract your bid, wait for the (8) feedback to retract theirs, then snipe the o***d ( 745) US $230.00 bidder. If you snipe, it's a lot tougher to get shilled. You might get it for $250 or something

Lol, no I totally get it. It was kind of like I got caught up in the moment, and the realization hit me at that point. I really wanted the card and couldn't believe that someone had bid so high on it, and I kept increasing a hundred or two and before I knew it was at $1150 and as I was getting ready to bid another $100 it just kind of hit me. A serious "wtf are you doing" moment. I was going to give up on my CP3 collection and go all out for it, but just couldn't bring myself to go any higher. This was all before I had the suspicion of foul play.

sux doesnt it, that Ebay continue to allow this kind of behavior, and to a certain extent encourage it/turn a blind eye. I guess maybe they calculate their sale volume to include these fake ones....
Auction are just ways for people to fish out your max, and if you bid real hard you may push it to an insane level and still not win it but thats what the seller will want now
