Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has pet cats and how they store there cards. I just recently got a pet cat and I know cats like to mess things up, go in boxes and hide in weird places. I normally store my cards in shoeboxes and oftentimes will keep cards out on display to look at. Do pet cats mess up sport cards and if they are in toploaders it would be difficult for them to mess up a card right? I know im a little worried about this, I just dont want to go home and get mad at my cat one day lol.

Not if you keep them locked away in a closet or something. If you leave them out you can pretty much bet that they will find some way to mess it up.
It's not so much of an issue with messing it up if they are in toploaders and stuff the real issue is all the hair.

You could put the cat in a toploader.

My cats teeth are fairly sharp. They bit into a stack of rookies and the ones with penny sleeves have holes in em but the ones in toploaders has dents

They also like to knock the boxes down.

Ask Dwade, he might have some space next to the 1,000,000lbs of silver and gold he has

I have a cat and I also keep my cards in shoeboxes. I used to put shoeboxes on bookshelf before I found scratches on the box.

I have 3 cats. Definitely keep in shoe boxes that are stored in the closet. I had a stack of inserts out one day and found one of the cats walking all over them and trying to pick them up with their mitts. Ended up just giving them to a little cousin due to the hair and everything.
If you take them out to scan or anything, make sure you do it in a room with them not in there because they will be very curious and will be all up in your business.

Keep the catnip and cards in different areas and you're fine.

I don't think a cat would damage a card since they aren't chewers...

I got a cat last year, and luckily she hasn't messed with any of my cards yet. She smells them, but mostly avoids stepping on them. I try and keep the cards away for the most part though.

I would be more concern with a cat spraying my cards than anything else. had one that would come from next door and spray on my screen door till I spray bleach on my door way to keep it away.

Store them properly and they wont be a problem.
I will say however, as a former cat owner, do not thumb through your cards near a cat. They may attack your fingers. Not sure why but my cat always did that around me

People actually keep cats inside their homes?
Keep them locked in a closet. I kept mine out in the den, and one day I came home and coughs her selling all my collection on eBay. And for stupid prices too. Idiot cat.

I keep the cards in a closet in my spare bedroom. Although I was organizing one time, went to the bathroom and the whole fricken box was knocked down and cards everywhere. Luckily they were all just base cards.

Shut door to man room, no cat no problems.
Rather fond of our filines we've had over the years, but they can scatch boxes - its cardbard, nails since in easy...scatching pads.
Never had any bite issues..well at least to the cards. Me - well I'm flesh, I bleed.
Biggest issue I've had is cats on tables and/or near any windows (think sunlight and/or warming spot..or sunny day, window open, fresh air - cat will find it). You cards on tables..knocked over, piles messed up...or in the last issue..2 cases of ginter broken down ready for sorting...took weeks to resort...ugg

We trained our cat to sort commons and make team sets. Won't let him do any ripping though.
