Looks like he signed a 4 year 96 million max deal. If the Grizz can stay healthy next year they should be dangerous

First time we've ever really signed anyone that wasn't on the wrong side of 35, or was a player that we actually had to fight teams to get.

This clearly isn't a class A signing, but he's someone that can step in right away and contribute in a major way.

For a Grizz fan it's a huge win. Plus, we're Gators in my household, so even bigger win for me personally.

Now, if he can just stay healthy....

I do not like this sign for Memphis. Parsons taking full advantage of their fear of totally striking out.

Been hearing that Conley was a big reason why the Grizzlies chased Parsons. Now they have him, Conley will look to re-sign. Good move Memphis.

Not one person here in Memphis agrees with that, but to each his own.

Already agreed to terms. 5 years at the max.

Grizz need a guy like Parsons. He should do great if he can play 70 games.

Man that's some money for a guy that hasn't even been able to stay on the floor though.

The injury history alone didn't warrant a max deal. Memphis really must be desperate, probably because they're not the most popular landing spot for high profile stars.

I haven't looks at his stats but I didn't think he was playing that well when he was on the floor for Dallas.

He had his glimpses. But he's a very streaky shooter. He's capable of dropping 40 any given night...or 10.

Consistency is big in this game. I liked his early game in Houston but thought he looked like he was over payed by Dallas. We will see if h can prove me wrong.

Thing about Parsons is he has the size and length to be a Batum type player and dish out good assists and rebounds. But sometimes on the floor he just withers up and disappears. I think a lot of his inconsistency issues in Dallas were related to him and Dirk being on the floor at the same time...the two just didn't mesh. He clearly did way better when he was the focal point.

We'll see how it works out in Memphis, but being a slow paced defensive team that doesn't really have a showcased shooter (like the Spurs), I'm a bit skeptical about the fit.

Again, I'm biased because I'm a UF alum and a Grizzlies season ticket holder.

But, I'm not sure how you can say he's "streaky" when as a starter last year (51 games, 30 mpg) he shot over 50% per game and at 43% from 3 (at over 4 3s per game.)

His issue is health.

It's a good deal for the Grizz if for no other reason to get Conley to sign. As long as he stays healthy he'll be a nice option on offence.

Poor wording by ninjacookies, he probably meant streaky scorer which is far different than shooter. Chandler Parsons sometimes remind me as a FAR FAR superior Jeff Green in the sense that some days he wants to be the man and attempt a lot of shots and the other days he just wants to be a solid role player that just blends in with the team system. Parsons is a winner, efficient shooter and has the true ability to space out the floor which Green lacked. Parsons attempted 10 or more field goals in 33 out of the 61 games he played which amounts to 54%. He attempted 15 or more shots twelve times throughout the season and every single time he averaged above .500 FG% in those games. He is a great player, but I think he relies too much on his confidence or lack thereof and that leads to him deferring to his teammates at times.

The Grizzlies payed market price (or slightly above) for Parsons and the deal won't look that bad next year when the salary cap rises even more. It's a good signing in my book.

A healthy Conley, parsons, old Zach, old tony, and gasol still gets you to the playoffs in the west. Nice job Memphis.

Considering they got to the conference finals just 3 years ago, I'd hope their aspirations are a bit loftier than just making the postseason. I don't think anyone pegs them as championship contenders right now, but at least they dropped a bit of dead weight. Now if only their bench wasn't comprised of senior citizens and 'who the hell is that?'s.

In this west? I'd their aspirations are higher than a first round exit, they're kidding themselves.

Seriously, I think this was more about maintaining relevance than it was returning to their glory days. Maybe I'm wrong. Guess we'll see.

You're right, for now.

Basically the public opinion of the team here in Memphis is that we're trying to avoid a complete teardown, and this does that. If we don't sign Parsons, I think Conley leaves. He made it clear to management that he needed to see signs that the team was trying to win. If Conley had left, then you may as well move Marc because we're probably not sniffing the playoffs without MC.

We've drafted so poorly that we have next to no homegrown young talent. Martin seems to be able to play, but I don't think Jordan Adams will ever see the court here in Memphis. And, we don't know what any of the guys we drafted this year will turn out to be (if anything). Plus, we don't have a first round pick in the 2017 draft.

This signing was about staying competitive, and I think it achieves that...again, presuming he stays healthy for the bulk of the season. If Parsons is actually healthy, then we have a kid in his prime who's the prototypical 4 for the new NBA - a big who can handle and shoot the 3.

Your right missed that, maybe a C Lee reunion? Deadly for the corner 3

We're talking about him and Eric Gordon right now, apparently. I would be on board with Lee, but not Gordon. We've got enough injury-prone players already.
