If Wade signs with the Knicks this year, LeBron and CP3 will follow next year.

Wow, Knicks making moves, I like it. New York being relevant is good for the league

Am I the only one thinking Wade, Rose and Noah are no longer capable of carrying a team to relevancy in the NBA? All three are players I have greatly enjoyed over the years but all three also make perfect Knicks players in there current state. Let's go grab JR Smith back to NY while we're at it.

I mean it's not saying much but they do also have Carmelo. I said relevant I didn't say contenders. At least they'll be fun to watch this year

Hard to carry a team when you're in street clothes.

With all the money they are throwing at these guys the after game bar tabs should be relevant news!

Oh yeah Melo, the definition of a winner.

I don't mean to pick on you. We generally agree on things but in terms what the Knicks are up to I think we have completely different outlooks. It will be interesting for sure. My take is that it will be interesting because they could be spending 100 million dollars to win 28 games.

Jeez I'm getting attacked from all sides haha, I guess what I meant to say, was popular players in NY means relevancy in msg, that's where I was going with that. Should have explained it better

I completely agree with you.

They need to at least put a product on the floor that people want to watch.

They need to at least have a playoff team

Absolutely

....the Lakers should give him a long term Max contract Kobe style
Amirite?

This is just posturing to try and get Riley to over pay. Bucks dont even have $16 Mill to offer Wade, do the Knicks?

Really dont think it matters how much they spend. Endorsements, jersey sales and tv spots will more than likely be triple that. AnD if they make the playoffs (longshot?), the excitement when amare first came to the knicks will be back.

He isnt even meeting with any of these teams til next week. By then Kd will have decided and Riley will throw what they have left at Wade when Kd officially isnt in Miami.

Didnt mean to quote the picture just the comments.

I've got twitter alerts setup on most of the top reporters, one of them would've said something about it.

Plus that IG post didn't even spell his name right.

I can't believe my Knicks might actually be relevant again.

Weeeeeeeeeeee.

(I love how they STILL are going the twilight-of-career route, though. It's so funny thinking of how many players have been on the team since 2000.)

Riley will throw what they have left at Wade when Kd officially isnt in Miami.

Yeah because its more important to pay Wade 4-5 mill more than any other team would than sign a viable FA or 2:doh:

You serious? He wants as much money as possible and a long term deal. If that wasnt the case he would have already resigned with the HEAT

DalliLlama11

Yeah because its more important to pay Wade 4-5 mill more than any other team would than sign a viable FA or 2:doh:

1. Yeah it is imo. I don't think they are winning a championship with this team. In this cap scenario, 20mil isn't buying you much. Subpar role players are getting 18 mil. None of those guys are taking you over the top to be a title contender. You think Ryan Anderson, Mozgov, etc make those teams anything close to challenging for a title?

2. Wade is Miami. Wade would never do a Kobe situation, but he absolutely deserves to be repaid. I am personally okay with sacrificing 1-2 years to pay Wade as loyalty. He did more than I could ask for in my lifetime. Most fans don't get to see their teams win titles. I got to see 3.

3. It's on Riley. Wade wanted 3 years 45 mil (15 a year obviously). You say pay him 20 mil when its 4-5 more than another team (making his market 15-16 mil). Well, if Riley just signed that deal with Wade last year it'd be done. We'd have Wade at 15 mil for 3 years, and he'd have been happy with it. Instead we paid him 20 last year, will probably pay 20 this year. Then next year we may pay more. So for those same 3 years we could end up paying him 60-70 mil instead of the 45 he asked for. Thats not on Wade, thats on Riley. Riley is hinging everything on KD for basically next year. Almost everyone knows that if he leaves, its next year not this year. I'm not too concerned because Wade isn't even in the states and Kd will make his deision by Monday or Tuesday and then we'll lock up Wade (for probably one year). But Riley could have had Wade, and Deng back probably for the price just Wade is going to cost him this year had he not been stubborn. Riley has done a ton of great things and moves, but pushing Wade to the back burner isn't one of them. It hurts Wade, it hurts the fans, and it hurts him because he is "overpaying" for guys and hurting the building of his team.

Hes been there his whole career. The Knicks, I doubt it. LeBron, KD and Wade are staying for at least one more year.

D-wade leads the heat in every category, but has never been the highest paid player on the team....can't blame him if he leaves for a better opportunity with the Knicks and will get paid. I feel this is different than "he wants to leave to win championships" so I support this choice. Finally Melo getting rewarded for staying

miamitrev2
07-02-2016, 06:32 PM
a better opportunity with the Knicks
In what way? If Wade stays in Miami Whiteside/Bosh/Winslow/Dragic is better than anything the Knicks can put on the court.

Financially the Knicks simply dont have the cap space to pay Wade even $16 mill at this point

Courntey Lee agrees to a 4yr/50 mil contract with the Knicks. That ends the Wade discussions.
