I really hope he went all out this past Father's Day. I've never seen such a mediocre D-league talent get consistently bailed out solely through familial association. Amazing.

Lol this is true.

Sad thing is, I think his father is in either such a terrible state of denial or feels some sort of guilt trip for not signing or releasing his own blood that fails to see that it's cutting into someone else's livelihood and career aspirations. Someone that deserves to be there way more than this entitled brat does.

At least they signed Jamal Crawford as well.

At least they signed Jamal Crawford as well.

They're extremely fortunate that Craw has accepted that backup role, but I will never understand it. Perhaps he's just loyal to the franchise and really believes they have a championship run in them. But he could have easily been a starting point or 2 guard for 15+ other nba franchises.

This year players are getting paid in spite of their skills in some cases

Yes, he was. And he can thank Duke for that.

Wasn't anthony Bennett drafted #1 overall?

Remember earlier this year when he played with only one eye? He came out and gave it his all.

Of course not, people don't anything around here.

I gained a lot of respect for him after that.

His shooting percentage was probably higher that game.

Honestly he turned into a pretty good player he plays very good D and can score he a great bench player I think. And he plays with a lot of heart. If Solomon hill get 52 million then rivers is worth 35 at least to me all day. Cause he a better player then hill. He really has improved not a bad signing at all.

i was thinkin the same as everyone else but u do make a great point, hill got 52 mil, rivers could potentially do much more than hill can

It's nice to know if there is ever another oil crisis, we can always drill for oil on Doc Rivers face.

He is not as bad as you are saying. It is easy to point out that his dad gave him the contract, but looking around the league right now, a lot of mediocre players are getting as much and more. Check the Nets and Lakers for example.

The numbers don't lie. He's a career 41 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3. So bad it's laughable.

I suppose if you want to use Mozgov as a measuring stick, then he's not bad. But he should not be in the nba right now.

Agree with everything you said. Welcome to the new nba. I have been watching for 20+ years but won't watch anymore. It's hard to follow a league where underachievers are getting minimum of $35-70 million contracts. What other line of business is mediocrity blatantly rewarded this way?

It's funny how he gets touted as playing good D... He doesn't. He plays fair defense is a horrible facilitator, jump shooter and really kills the flow of the offense. He is very good at getting to the rim though, gotta give him that

I owe my $50 storage unit fee overdue since July 1st. That's about the jist of my current debt.

Not sure how you think Rivers shouldn't be in the NBA... 43.8% from the floor last year, 33.5% from 3 range. Both pretty average for a guard, not worthy to be out of the league IMO. 8.9 PPG. Definitely not starter numbers, but easily finds a spot on most NBA rosters.

I do agree that his contract is too large, but I don't agree that he should out of the NBA.

Major League Baseball too.

Why does it matter to you what the player contracts were? Would you be more entertained if the players were getting paid in peanuts and cotton candy?

it matters to a lot of us because the fans are the ones that are generating this money. i would love to go to several games a season but the cost is just to high (well i could sit in the nose bleed sections and barely see the jersey numbers). decent mid level tickets are going to run anywhere from 200-400 a piece. look how expensive jerseys, game tickets, game concession stands, cable/satellite/league pass subscriptions etc are. its hard to justify these high prices as a fan when the league is literally throwing money away. this leads to raising prices on everything.

I see your logic, but remember that 50% of basketball revenue goes back to ownership. The owner is the biggest single beneficiary of the team and League's success, and they could single-handedly lower ticket/jersey/concession prices for you, the average fan. In fact, almost every owner already has $1 billion in profit already baked into the value of the team, so they could operate the League at break even and still walk away with a 10 figure payday.

And you know what? I'm willing to bet that if Austin Rivers doesn't get that $35 million contract, that the money saved goes right into the pocket of the owner and not back to the fans in the form of lower costs. Why? Because the market has already shown it's willingness to bear the costs, and nothing the owners have done indicates that their willingness to leave any money on the table.

I agree, I blame the owners too.
