View Full Version : Why has COMC become so SLOW at shipping?

I have been a long term member over there, and long for the good old days of shipping within 2-3 business days.
Now standard shipping is supposed to be no longer than 7 business days? Really? How hard is it to ship within 2-3 days?
My current shipment is on business day 8, won't ship today which means at minimum of 9 business days to ship 5 cards.
Truthfully, I will think twice about my future purchases if they don't figure this thing out.
Anyone else running into the same BS?

I have had just the opposite. Last year my standard shipping seemed to take around 2 weeks. Last month when I ordered, with standard shipping, it was out the door in about 4 days.

Based on what I have heard, it seems like it has slowed down a lot. My guess is the addition of eBay sales has taxed the shipping crew as those orders get handled.
I always pay for upgraded shipping, but I've been holding off on my latest shipment until later this summer after things have cooled down a bit and/or they have hired more staff.

I love reading their negative ebay comments, mostly about not combining shipping. Good waste of a few mins.

Thought there was going to be a lot of negatives based on your comment.
9293 positives.
2 neutral.
29 negative.
It seems most complaints fall on buyers who didn't read the combined shipping instructions. I'm betting most of those disappear.

These are my current options for what is sitting in my COMC right now (7 cards):
Delivered Monday, August 1
$3.99 - Economy
Delivered Tuesday, July 19
$5.49 - Economy Rushed
Delivered Monday, August 1
$9.99 - Priority
Delivered Monday, July 18
$11.49 - Priority Rushed
Delivered Saturday, July 16
$32.99 - Express Rushed
So...Priority on August 1 for $10, or Economy on August 1 for $4?
Economy Rush is an extra $1.50. The benefit of COMC was saving on shipping and getting the cards in a week. These benefits are slowly but surely fading away.
For example, my most recent shipment:
Date Estimated Actual
Requested 7/8/2016
Shipped 7/23/2016 Not Yet
Delivered 7/26/2016
Meh.

One thing I've learned is don't ask to put your cards in toploaders. It will delay shipment by at least a week.

I'm currently waiting, and complaining on here as well. They have given all the attention to ebay and none to website buyers. It's very frustrating to be treated like garbage after buying thousands of cards over the years.

They've got a few new negatives on Ebay (http://bit.ly/29CYxch) for shipping rates/packaging. I think they've just bit off a little more than they can chew for the time being with the Ebay listings. They are up to 29,584 items sold on Ebay. They are bound to get some negatives with that kind of volume.

Most of their negatives seem to be from the same 3-4 buyers.

Same thing here. Now over 10 business days for priority. They screwed the pooch by not adding help for the eBay stuff. I'm beyond frustrated and will no longer buy from them. Others I'm guessing will feel the same.
The sellers applauding the eBay sales may want to think twice if they continue to treat their bread and butter like trash. Sure, the new flood of listing brought out buyers. It will eventually slow and COMC will have lost their website buyers.

Careful with this, I was attacked for saying the same thing. I suppose the multitude of negative threads and posts are an aberration. Apparently there is a contingent of fan boys that have seen fit to dislike me and block me, whatever will I do?

Attacked you? You run your mouth in every COMC thread. It's getting a bit old. I guess if you are being blocked by people, that should be your clue.

You calling it running my mouth, I call it voicing my concerns. Go search my COMC posts circa 2012-2013 and you will see there wasn't a bigger COMC cheerleader/fanboy/ambassador on the planet. You think my opinion changed for no reason?
I have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars with COMC and they currently are in possession of more than six figures worth of my cards, I think that entitles me to speak out if I see an issue(s). Besides, last I checked, this was a message board where the sole purpose is to share opinions and discuss, please correct me if I'm wrong.
You fail to interpret my post correctly, I could not possibly care less if people are blocking me. In fact, I welcome the small minded people that would do so to do so. Anyone that would rather completely ignore an opinion that differs from their own instead of listening to it and either countering or brushing it off is the kind of fragile snowflake that I wouldn't care about to start with.
I too have "made piles of money" via COMC, that doesn't mean it is perfect and that there aren't valid concerns. I will say positive things when they are worthy and I do and I will say negative things when they are worthy and I do. If either bother you, I just don't care.

I'd think a person of your stature would have his own private line to COMC management.
I know they have some issues. In most cases all it takes is a little time for them to correct them. By all means, continue to voice your opinion. I just wish it wasn't a a broken record in every thread.

I don't consider myself above anyone else and as much as I bitch here, I've never called COMC to complain, I just don't think things are to the point where that is necessary.
Mostly I'm just venting and I do so because I loved COMC as much as I did. Find a post where I'm complaining about Sportlots, I'll save you the trouble and tell you not to waste your time, it doesn't exist. Is that because I feel they are better than COMC? Absolutely not, it is because I don't care about the place or if it fails/succeeds. I criticize COMC because I absolutely do want them to succeed.
Make no mistake either, they monitor these posts so my posts are getting read, whether they care or will take them under advisement is another story. Maybe they do/will, maybe they don't/won't. In any event, if I see something I have an issue with, I'll say so and I think it is far less intrusive to their day to day operations to do so here than to tie someone up on the phone.
I'm sorry you feel that I sound like I'm a broken record, that certainly isn't my intent. However, if there is something I feel that needs to be addressed such as shipping times, fees, customer service response times or damaging submissions, I'll continue to vent about it until the issues get addressed/corrected.
Thank you for your respectful reply, I absolutely welcome criticism or debate as long as both sides are willing to listen. I love COMC and am heavily invested, I don't knock COMC because I want them to fail, quite the opposite in fact.

Thanks Swipe, got a chuckle out of me.
I support what they've been doing of late and fully realize it is a giant bite they've bitten off. As such, there are obviously going to be some giant hiccups but let's give it three to five months for them to adjust, assess and reconfigure. If nothing has gotten better, then it will be time to say so.
I think from all of these threads it is clear that the major complaints are;
* Poor customer service and response times. - This was easily predictable but was hard to get in front of for two reasons. First, until they actually knew what the Ebay load/sell out was going to be, they couldn't accurately hire enough staff.
Second, without the Ebay revenue yet coming in , it would have been a giant financial risk to put the cart before the horse in hiring a bunch of people that may not have been needed. True, there are some angry customers at the moment but let's see how staffing plays out as they have time to adjust to the demand and hire proportionately.
* Slow shipping. - Also easily predictable but same answer as above.
* Noncompetitive fees. - This is my big one and I admit that I won't be sending anything new in until they address it. Yes, I'm very happy with how the partnership has made my sales take off but it has done more to sell me on Ebay than it has on COMC. Having said that, I detest listing, shipping and dealing with Ebay buyer. I'm willing to pay a premium to have COMC do those things for me but not very much more than the major Ebay consignors charge. Why would I? It's just throwing away money.
I do wish for 2012 Checkoutmycards.com and how in-tuned and connected they were to their customer but I also understand that the bigger a company gets, the harder it is to keep that personal interaction. As such, I'm ok with it being gone, as long as they address the above concerns and I really hope that they do. I'm willing to show some patience as they work towards doing so.

I'm on the same page on pretty much every point here.
I feel it could become a powerhouse for selling through consignment if it does this right (or even mostly right).
You're right on the fees - one thing it would also help with is that I want to price my stuff more competitively with eBay sales - need lower fees to do that, as I have to account for a 20% loss right away. They must have an agreement with eBay (like the other big boys) to pay a smaller percentage on Final Value Fees - that needs to make it's way to the seller sooner rather than later.

COMC is certainly onto something great with the eBay thing. We can all see that. Problem is, they haven't had a great record leading up to the eBay entry. Should we trust that they will somehow change their stripes and enjoy long term success?

I emailed them and they said it should be out by the 26th. We'll see if that actually happens. I got the warehouse moving excuse as well, but I don't buy it when people on ebay are getting their items in less than a week. The site traffic has taken a backseat, and that's pretty shitty if you ask me.

The status though(even just now when I checked) still says it is "N/A Not Yet". So it ended fine, but it's still a flawed process.
