one of the other threads had the 1 inch brick in it... you were a collector in the 90's I know you had at least 1 card in a brick.
Show what you had in a brick.
You don't have to still own the card
This is what I had in a brick:

Sorry for sounding ignorant, but what is a "brick" referring to?

They were the big thick screw down holders that were almost the size of a brick lol

Unfortunately, I had quite a few cards in bricks back in the day...lol! Some of the noteables are Dave Winfield, Ozzie Smith, and Ripken Jr. rookie cards... who knew?

This scan is from ~2005, but this card was in a brick from 1999-2005 when I bought it at a local card shop. Upon removal from the case, there was paper loss along the entire top back edge and some random specks on the front. Unfortunately, I don't have a scan of the front. I would never purposely use one of those bricks, but I understand why people would think they're the safest option.

All these. I think the Young might still be in one, not sure. They came that way. Nice and pancaked!

I do not have pictures, but my most prized and only bricked baseball card as a kid was a 1994 Score The Cycle Frank Thomas insert card

When I had bricks back in the day, they were referring to stacks of 25 or 50 of a single card. I use to buy/trade for bricks of star players back in the late 70's & 80's for card shows knowing these stars would sell. I still have some bricks of a few 1980's Ripken's.
So today's terminology is a thick screwdown?

No pictures but some cards were George Brett, Frank Thomas (Leaf), and Rickey Henderson RC's. Glad I didn't keep them in their too long as I realized long term damage was possible.

This one it was the error. It once had a whopping value of $65. I ended up trading it for an 82 TT Ripken, an 83 Fleer Sandberg, and a 1989 Hoops david robinson.

I keep quite of few of my favorite cards to look at in bricks and have them displayed on a shelf.
The nice thing about bricks is that they are weighty enough to stand on their own...

No, those marks must be on my scanner, but they are not on the card. Just double checked to make sure😀

Funny that I come across this thread today. I was over my parents house this weekend and my dad tells me he finally got around to cleaning out the garage and finds a box of my old cards and hands me these...
Too bad it was the wrong year for Griffey. Can't believe I even bricked those Juan's. Definitely brings back old memories. I won every one of those cards playing two square with the other kids in the neighborhood. Winner got to pick a card from the losers deck.

In 1996 I was lucky enough to pull a Griffey rookie out of one pack of 1989 UD. As soon as I got home I put it in a screw down. Was a very valuable card at the time, and the best card in my collection. Probably left it in there for a decade before taking it out.

What inside the brick caused the paper loss?
It wasn't recessed and whoever put it in tightened the screws too tight. When I unscrewed the 2 pieces, the card was stuck to the plastic and the surface paper ripped off the card when I tried to gently remove it. Who knows - there may have been moisture on the card when it was put into the case, I'm not sure. I only know what happened when I removed it.

I had my 96 Topps, 52 Mantle reprint, chrome refractor in one, but had used a penny sleeve as well. No problems when removed it years later. Also had a 1 of 25 UD gold version Arod jersey card in one, penny sleeved as well.
