Hi everyone! I've been buying cards on eBay for years now and I've realized that I'm a hoarder and recently decided to sell some. One of my first transactions is a $400 card that I added signature confirm and insurance to. The buyer contacted me asking to take the sign confirm off because his mailbox locks all his mail in it and he won't be available to sign. My ? is: Should I be worried or is tracking and insurance enough.

I think you need signature confirmation on items $750 or more to be protected through Paypal. so as long as you have insurance you should be good to go.

I ended up canceling the transaction and am going to eat the eBay fees. I think it was a legit buyer but too scary of a transaction to start my career. New ? is there an updated list of blocked eBay buyers? I've been browsing and have not seen one.

Damn it, now he gave me negative feedback. I made some novice mistakes during this transaction but I don't believe I deserved a neg on my first sale. Everything else I sold this weekend shipped today without any problems.

I would call Ebay if you made it clear you were shipping with SC and he tried to make you change it after the fact, you may be able to get it removed. Point the rep to the rule about buyer changing shipping method or address.

Shouldn't he also be able to get his FVF back?

To be honest and clear, I didn't say anything about a signature in the auction. I just thought it would be smart to add SC along with insurance after the fact. And he's upset that I printed the shipping label on Thursday night after he paid and didn't ship until today. Full disclosure, I had to work all day Friday and planned on shipping on Saturday but didn't know that my local PO closes at noon. 100% my fault, but I'm still within eBay shipping standards of 72 hours so I don't think I'm technically wrong. I don't plan on being a slow shipper just going through growing pains of learning the routine. Any feedback positive or negative is welcome.

1st of all Signature Confirmation protects you. Its your butt on the line not anyone elses who says you don't need it. With signature confirmation you're also protected from chargebacks. Not just because paypal says you're protected to $750 cuz once a chargeback is filed that notion goes out the window. Call ebay, tell them your buyer didn't want signature confirmation and in turn left a negative, give them the details and see if they'll remove the negative and give you your final fees back, which if you cancelled the transaction you should have them back anyway. If they do not you can always respond to the feedback with the fact the buyer refused signature confirmation. If in fact all of this has happened since Friday, you should have no issues. Send how you want to send, its your sale. Tho I would suggest you put it in your auction. I don't but some people like to know in advance. I just ship, if they cant pick it up it gets returned to me, I did my part and its on them.

All Right eBay!!! Called them and told them my story and they removed the negative feedback. Overall, it was a quick and pleasant phone call. Though, I do wonder how many more adventures I'm going to go through using the 'bay.

You'll go thru a lot lol Just do everything right and you wont have to worry about much. Theres always people out there who know and exploit the loopholes but if you do it by the rules you'll be fine. Take the extra precautions - signature confirmation, insurance - it pays in the long run. Both of which can be split and priced in with the buyer if done correctly.

Problem with that is nobody has the same, and just because I have an issue with a buyer does not mean others do. I have a huge amount of regular members here blocked just because I don't like them.
Its also very easy for buyers to create new IDs to get around those blocks, yes you can catch them sometimes but most of the time you will not.

The story goes on.....I resold the card for $50 less then he originally bought it for and he's sending me troll messages saying that "karma is a bitch". If you guys think he is worthy of blocking I'll name names, if not let me know.

A bunch of blocked lists on the forum here is just one:

Also, your feedback shows you've sold cards for more than a year..
