The back-up story in Amazing Spider-Man #248, "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man" has always stayed with me. Early on, I read Amazing Spider-Man #33 (as a Marvel Tales reprint) and I always found Spidey's triumph at the end of that story particularly stirring.

DC-wise, Alan Moore has a couple of gems, the Pogo inspired issue of Saga of the Swamp Thing, number #32 and also, from the same title, issue #159 by Mark Millar, the one about a boy and his dog, brought a lump to my throat.
The two-part "Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow" from Action #583 and Superman #423 really pack a punch.
Mr. Moore also nailed it, emotionally speaking, with a three part story, "Crises in Infinite Hearts" in Tom Strong #20-#22.
(What can I say? I like Alan Moore.)

The marvel graphic novel The Death of Captain Marvel still chokes me up whenever I read it

I thought Squadron Supreme had some strong moments that we're moving.

Ted Kords death with him being thought of as a kook and nobody willing to help was really sad and his final words were awesome. Sad thing is that issue showed why Ted was a great character and should have lived.

Good call on Ted Kord , actually that whole story where Booster gets upset because no one seemed to care was jarring . That original squadron was great as well , Mark Gruenwald's best work

Man...so many that I really can't remember...lots of Strangers in Paradise stuff...

More recently the Rebirth special where Flash came back and everyone remembered him...got my a bit choked up...best Johns story since he left pre 52 Green Lantern.

Well, I haven't been in the game very long so I don't have nearly as much to draw from as most of you, but I thought the last panels of Klaus were done incredibly well.

For me it was spidey - one more day where Peter was so desperate to save his aunt, he and Mary Jane made the deal with the devil to give their love away and their possible future child they will now never have.
This put a big lump on my throat....like a sissy! Damn!!!

I'm not as well read as many of you, but the one that comes to mind is Identity Crisis. Some of Elongated Man parts were quite moving.

Yeah, someone should have consulted with Aunt May on that one, I bet she may have said don't do the deal. LOL

I agree but for a different reason. When you add in the brutal death of Ted Kord and Didio's open hate for everything JLI, you have open season on JLI characters on DC's management part.

The amount of overkill they did in IC was just awful.

I was very sad because they ruined Elongated Man and Sue's love for a stupid mini just be real and gritty. I want Elongated Man back and Vic Sage, his 52 send off was well done though.
