Price advice !

What's up guys , I'm about to post some modern books on ebay to get rid of and try to get myself some silver age ASM books for my PC run. I can't figure what's a decent price to ask for my Walking Dead books .here's what I have

Put them up for Cover Price as the opening bid and let the marketplace rules of supply and demand take care of the valuation and you'll find you'll get a decent price.

Starting bidding low, gets interest to create bidding wars. Starting bids too high gets you the soundtrack of crickets chirping and dust gathering...

My advice is to take clear photos of the front cover and the back cover, with close ups of any defects along with descriptive disclosure.

So many lame eBay Sellers only show 50% of the product with the front cover only, and when it comes to comic collectors, the educated upper echelon buyers mandate looking at the front and back, and those are the bids you're trying to garner.

Kinda iffy on auction. I did a start low auction on some ms marvel books and had a million watchers and no bids till last min, if wasn't for a reserve price I would of lost big time. I usually never have this problem just don't want to undercut myself out of some profit[/QUOTE]

The guy above is actually spot on. The fact you had a reserve hurts way more than it helps. Myself, and many many others will avoid an auction with a reserve just like a high starting bid. You'll most likely have a better chance with the higher starting bid. Many wont get bids until the final minutes. People will wait and try to "snipe" it in the final seconds. I buy about 20-30 items a month on ebay and have NEVER bid prior to the final 10 seconds in 10 years. If I'm not able to log in at end, I'm not getting it lol


I would be interested in a few of them if you decide you want to sell on here. Let me know and I'll look up which ones I may need.


As for your dilemma - do you know how to seach past sold listing? Doing that will give you a rough idea of what you can expect final prices to be. Your other option is higher BIN with OBO option - but that generally takes a lot longer to move stuff.

I was going to suggest this as well. I tend to base my prices on recent sales. The other thing to consider, especially with Walking Dead, is selling them as lots. I'm working on putting a run together myself so I'm constantly on the lookout for lots on eBay. Could help you unload some less desirable issues when they're packaged with more desirable ones. Stats advice is sound except he didn't consider the fact that you only have 67 seller feedback ratings. Low starting bid auctions are not the way to go until you build that up. Your auctons will suffer because a lot of collectibles buyers won't take a chance on your stuff unless they think the deal outweighs the risk. Stick with BIN/BO or auctions starting at the price you want to get. Sell a lot of inexpensive stuff to build up your feedback.
