So with the release of tek on Wednesday I thought I would start up a thread to talk about the product and show your hits!

I know I'm looking forward to this year and the new designs! Anyone else?

What I don't get is how many people are selling boxes on Ebay damn near at cost. After fees and free shipping it's losing $3-$6 per box.

As far as TEK in general, 2014 was not great to look at. The designs just seemed terrible. 2015 They added some color to them and they look better than 2014 but still not great. 2016 looks much better than 2015, I just don't like the lack of Royals on the checklist.

Are you kidding? I thought the 2014 was awesome! At least for the blue dots, red storm, and charcoal galactic!! They had so many colors and cool designs in them!!

I found it awful looking, but I guess some disagree. The base cards are the worst.

This. It really kind of shocks me that prices of Topps baseball wax products don't seem to drop like Panini products do. TEK, Stadium Club and Chrome from this year and years past should be much lower than they are.

Compared to other products out there I actually thought tek was reasonably priced... and unlike other higher priced products all these autos are on Card.... which I like better.

I love Tek (thanks Josh aka Jewcer for getting me hooked on it). There is value beyond the autos in this set. The pattern parallels seems to sell pretty well and I've been lucky to hit the right names, but the different patterns have a market to be sure. In many of my boxes from last year I was able to move a non auto card for more than the auto itself.

I absolutely loved 2014 & 2015. I opened a lot of 2014, but didn't keep anything as Ernie Banks was the only Cub in the set. I collected Rizzo, Bryant, & Russell from the 2015 set. I hope to go after Rizzo, Bryant, & Schwarber from the 2016 set. I'm a 90's card fan, plus I have always had a thing for acetate cards. Easily my favorite product out these days.

Love the Tek designs. Patterns, inserts and parallels are top notch. I would prefer they eliminate the autographs all together and make it a 30 dollar box.

got my on ball auto I bought way back when that I'm more than happy with. I could literally wait a year or two and just wait for the craze to be over with so I can buy an affordable one. hopefully from a seller who doesn't do this for a full time living. that always helps in my experience

I went pretty big (for my buying purposes) on tek last year and got destroyed, will probably stay away. I kept reading at how well the patterns and what not sell and I had quality names for the patterns and did not get nearly what I thought I would so it's not really a product worth it for me.

I agree..they are very nice. But also be warned that if a player has a card and an auto version thats 8 printing plates to chase (grrrr as I still dont have them all from the 2014 release for Boggs)

You know as much as I do, but cardboard connection and beckett are both starting theirs, but I havent seen any info (and we may not) as to the rarity of the other designs but even a list of those would be nice!

Well if they have a base card it's 5. The 4 plates and the galactic. If they have a home jersey variation it's another 5. If they have a regular auto its another 5. So each player is different but I wouldn't be shocked if some guys have 20+ 1/1's.

You sir are a downer to my PCing efforts today. I havent seen the full checklist on Boggs but if I've got 20+ 1/1's to chase I might as well give up. Bad enough on the two 1/1's (non tek) I bought today that if the wife founds I'll be wishing for coal to keep me warm this xmas.

Took the 5 seconds to check the checklist (which it seems as if you commented on so................) and Boggs just has a base and an auto, not on the home team variation list so you are OK.

I don't think the home jersey variation has all of the parallels like the base. Similar to variations in Heritage or Topps, I think they are their own thing.

Yeah, this is one of my favorites. I didn't like the 2015 as much as 2014, but this year looks promising. I'm not sure they'll ever put out a product again that rivals the 2014 Tek auto checklist. I opened 3 cases and pulled more big autos out of there than I have the rest of my life combined I think.

Someone called it "Red Magma" and I hope it's numbered on the back like they were in 2014. If not it will lead to the obvious confusion.

I doubt the print run of these is 5. The Orange are #/25 and fall 1:10 Boxes. The Red are not numbered and 1:13 boxes.

I had J.D. Martinez in a 3 case player break with Ripkings and hit a biggie! There were 3 Tanaka Gold autos /50 as well, crazy!

Pretty lousy they canned the Blue altogether and stopped numbering the red non auto. Those 2 parallels were my favorite (and many other people's I'm sure). Weird decision by Topps IMO.

I think it's fair to say that I've participated in 10 case breaks up until this point and have not fared well at all. Most of those were with the team that I think provides the most bang for your buck and its been rough. One more break that's already been paid for and after that, I quit.

Totally agree with you about the 2. Loved the blue dots!!

But I do love the orange magma! The A patterns for red and orange look so much nicer IMO!
