View Full Version : Kris Bryant rookie advice

If one such as myself were to want a Kris Bryant rookie WITHOUT an auto, what would be my best option? Big fan of heritage so what variation if that's the recommendation?

I think I may have found a use for those stupid non auto descriptions on eBay

Thanks for the help

Heritage action or color swap or a refractor or black refractor. The best is an Archives SP.

Thanks. How short printed were the archives sp's? It seems expensive in 9.5.

Not sure but Archives is the way to go

I found on baseballcardpedia it said about 500 copies at 1:70 hobby packs. Retail at 1:47 packs. That seems backwards.

i THINK the SPs were about one SP per case with 20 SPs in the set?

Something insane like that, hence the high $

500 seem like a lot for them to be SP'd.

If you want "the one" non auto key rookie card, I would suggest to get the Archives card. It's a very limited card and looks good to top it off.

I have the auto version of the card and love it! It's one of my favorite cards in my PC.

Lots of set collectors that needed them too.

Let's just say that Beckett graded only 49 of them so far..

Never pulled a Bryant, but based upon the twenty or so SPs that I did sell all went to set collectors. They would have needed the Bryant too.

The Finest RC is also a SSPed card for what seems to be a little less than the Archives card, but with that said I think the Archives card is a better looking card.

As far as inserts the Heritage Mini is limited to 100 copies and are serial numbered on the back. I like the Minis.

I accidentally won a refractor BGS 9.5 a couple months ago. I put a bid in thinking I would probably be outbid only to win it for much less than expected.

There's a 2015 Bryant Archives RC card on the bay via auction ( not my card ). Interesting to see how much it will get. The last two got 350. I think the combination of it being an auction and the timing might make it sell for less than 350

I've noticed some of the Archives auto cards are selling slightly more than the non-auto cards. For those who are interested in the non-auto, wouldn't you rather have the auto RC for $100-$150 more?

I bought my BGS 9 auto for $500 (best offer). Don't non-auto's sell between $300-$400?

The 2015 Bryant Archives auto that was on the bay for 900 or best offer just sold for 650 via best offer. Looks like the 500 you got yours for was a deal! I can't believe how high KB cards are getting

Oh wow. Okay. I guess I did get a good deal.

Yeah, KB cards are going up like crazy. I'm currently watching one 9.5 ALFAC auction to see where it sells.

I get the whole "chrome is king" argument but I am wondering which card is most valuable: the 2013 KB Bowman Chrome Draft auto (the one inserted in 2014 products) or the 2015 KB Archives auto? Would it be the 2015 Archives because they are printed less or would it be the 2013 Bowman Chrome because, well, chrome is king?

2013 Chrome Draft Ref Auto sells for about the same as the Archives... the Archives sells better than the Base Chrome Auto.

OP update..... I have concluded that the Archives is the best card to own. However I think this is the worst time to buy so I am going to hold off for a bit. I typically don't deal with current players because of the volatility and unpredictability. I only have a Trout and Kershaw at the moment. Bryant seems to belong with those 2 but I'm going to wait a minute.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Good for you on holding off. Current stuff can be silly (especially Cubs stuff), and if you have the discipline to hold off until prices lower you will be way more happy with your purchase.

Yeah. The Archives prices are way too high right now after his MVP & championship season. I'm sure prices will drop around January or February. Good luck!

I would go with either his Finest or Archives RC's. If you're looking for something more exclusive(discounting 1/1's), his HHN B&W #'d /5 is the best low serial #'d RC, but good luck finding one.

That was a PSA 10, so that would obviously sell high. Gem mint graded cards have sold between $575-$865. The last ungraded base card sold for $412.

Out of all the unnumbered Kris Bryant base cards, if have to say his 2015 Archives is the most valuable.

I do believe the market is drying up because they are so limited. If you're hunting for one, I'd get one while you can. All the true KB collectors are scooping them up to keep.

This may be a silly question, but you'd obviously recommend getting the auto card over the non auto card right? What do you think is fair, current market value on the KB auto card right now? I know a raw sold for 737 a few weeks ago, haven't checked past sales since.

There are two raw ones available right now on eBay. Obviously, the asking price they're asking for is way too high and they're just wanting to see if anyone bites. I would message them both and see what is they're lowest price they would sell it to you right now. I wouldn't pay anymore than $750 for it. Anything less, I would take it in a heartbeat.

I would also message the other seller selling a graded 9.5 and see if the price difference is much more. If we're talking about a $20-50 difference from the raw offers, I would much rather get the gem mint graded card.

Good luck!

Update to the OP.... I liked the Archives and the Heritage. I decided to go with the card below. It's heritage but still has some rarity to it #'d out of 66. I paid $550 which is more than I wanted to but I bought it during that 10% coupon deal and had some ebay bucks so did ok I guess. It's the highest graded copy.

You gotta go Heritage High Numbers... I have picked up a bunch recently... A $20-$25 card now will easily be in the $50-$75 range by the all star break.
