Meaning Non-Shiny, Non-numbered, No Ink, No Fabric

Is Prizm the answer now as Topps/Topps Chrome were from 1956 to 2015?

Prizm.

I'll stick to the known commodity that has been the benchmark for collectors in basketball as well for the past few years since Topps and UD lost their license.

If football had the same market as basketball, the Dak and Zeke prizm base's would be going for $70+ right now. It's insane what the top basketball rc's fetch.

FYI - The football Prizms are actually the base card, so there are far more of Zeke and Prescott than any basketball rookie and they fall about 1 per pack. The basketball rookie prizms are extremely difficult to pull. I opened the same amount of basketball as I did football and pulled 25 FB rookie prizms and 0 BKB rookie prizms. If the Dak and Zeke were that rare I think you'd see the prices go very similar.

Prizm... the prices just keep rising and it's the base rookies people search for.

As far as autos, Contender's.

Prizm

And if Prizm had base AND silver versions, instead of just silver, they would be going for way more right now.

Agreed, the base rookies are holding strong.

It's gotta be Prizm they have the colors that people want for those who like to chase rainbows. They are nice looking cards my only gripe that i know i share with many others is the sticker autos.

I liked Donruss/Retail Panini football this year

Let's see how Optic does before we call this race. I think it is most similar to Topps Chrome and could provide the hobby with a seamless transition.

Elite RC's are tough to pull and seem to be selling fairly well. Just saw a Zeke Elite base RC sell for nearly 40 bucks

Can't wait for Optic as well!

I am not 100% on board with Prizm being "The" replacement. They are sticker autos, plus there are too many defects on Prizm such as scratch marks, artifacts/flaws and, as previously mentioned in another thread, mis-cuts. For me, I would have to say that Contenders is likely to establish itself as the bona fide replacement for anything Topps may have released in the past.

"I would have to say that Contenders is likely to establish itself as the bona fide replacement for anything Topps may have released in the past."

What is SRP per pack?

The thing with Contenders is that the base cards tend to be SP'd, which is no good when it comes to continuity

I think the OP means basic brand like Topps (no autos)

Throw Score out due to the college logos

So Donruss?

Topps from 1956 to 1995 and then Topps Chrome (BC For Brady and Romo) until 2015

And aren't base rookies autographed?

As for Optic - it seems to be more along the price point as chrome with 1 auto iirc. What's yet to be seen is how many end up as redemptions.

Optic may take over Chrome as the go to Auto, but in line with the question asked, Prizm has too much draw with what's going on in Basketball. So many collectors have seen what BB does and that's already led them to the FB craze we're seeing now. Contenders doesn't even belong in this type of discussion imo as they are a class by themselves.

Got ya. I still don't think it's Prizm for the issues I mentioned. Donruss might be the answer. For some reason I prefer Elite, although the cards are refractive foilboard, the parallels are done very well are plentiful and are interesting and eye catching.

Sorry.

I was trying to stay away from "Contenders autos are the base Rookie Cards nowadays"

No worries. I know us old-timers are few and far between :)

Prizm prices have the possibility of soaring even higher once the graded copies hit the market. I believe Elliott's Prizm in BGS 9.5 have sold for around $75. Since PSA has a lock on set registries I have no clue how well Prescott and Elliott will do once psa graded Prizm rookies hit ebay.

No problem.
Considering I get more joy ripping 1990-1991 Pro Set than Modern Wax, do I qualify?

Pro Set produced some of the most comprehensive sets which included stellar photos and unique border less designs. I was not a big fan of the 1993 set but I loved the sets from 1989-1992.

been watching the tons of prescott prizms starting to show up on fleebay and it looks to me like its coming down a little for the base stuff because everyone on the planets trying to cash in. itll be interesting to see graded start to show up mainly the pristines. ive actually got some im planning on sending in to beckett, but im worried now its just getting watered down like always.

Prizm and it's already happening.

IMO, Optic won't have much of a market.

Prizm has already been around in FB for a while and is a staple in basketball.

Donruss due to cost. Prism is to expensive for a base set.
