I don't see a thread on this product yet, if there is I apologize. Set to release 12/7, what are people's thoughts of this year's edition with the new configuration? I love this product every year, but the price point always starts out too high IMO (of course what product doesn't). I like the new configuration and it's always a blast to open, I'm going to try and save for a case once prices go down hopefully to around $1200, probably have to wait a month or two after release though

Boxes started at the same price last year, right?

I kind of enjoyed the base cards for TTM/IP autos, but if you're now getting 4-5 extra autos at the same price, that's a much better deal.

I'm sure this will follow the same pattern as previous years though. Lots of presale, decent sales to start, and then it will be forgotten about until someone in it suddenly becomes popular.

Seems like it will be fun to open but not fun to collect. I'm not a big fan of the base design. I'm guessing that a majority of the print run will be unopened a couple years from now.

Thanks for the input. Supposedly all the base are numbered this year so maybe there might be more popularity with a fixed quantity? Maybe even for set collectors as well? This product does tend to get lost in the shuffle after a week or two but it is definitely a fun rip.

Going off of the numbers I see, it looks like there will be the same number of autographed and base cards in each box. Based off of what I remember in previous years, I'd assume that means that base cards will be numbered to around 1000 if the print run stays the same.

I think that will make the value of top prospects and stars go way up (both at release and when players get hot after), but I'd think that most base cards will still be worth very little. If there are still 100 base cards, I'd guess 90 of them would sell for $25-$30 combined and the other ten will sell for more, depending on who the top names are. I think it will be a hard set to put together because those top few players could be worth quite a lot.

Hard to put a base set together? The base cards are never hard even with the top names unless I'm misunderstanding what you are referring to

Hard as in expensive. The cards will be out there but if the right names are in there, the base set could be well over $100 for 100 cards.

Well IMO that should add more value to the product then. A 20 box case will yield around 200 base cards on average I would think (2 hits, 1 parallel, 2 numbered base per pack). So 1 complete based set per case should hold a decent value, so I don't it as being a bad thing

The format this year makes me not want to break any, cater to the breakers once again...

I'll agree that it definitely caters to breakers but that's just how things will be for products moving forward aside from a few select products. Breakers are the biggest chunk of these card companies profits so that's who they will cater to. I'm not really opposed to it in this instance, I think the additional Silhouettes and contenders set makes up for it plus the base is worthless every year so maybe this year with less base per box and actually having all numbered base it will add a little more to the product

I understand how they're catering to breakers for high-end products but how do you mean with middle of the pack products?

Doesn't this come out the same day as one of the bowman releases? If so no one will buy as much.

I'm fine with that, will lower the price lol.....I think it's panini's way to compete (or try to) with bowman

Breakers don't just bust high end so to me that's irrelevant. I mean look at bowman draft now, there is only jumbo and super jumbo versions

Hate the new configuration. Panini selling out to lowest common denominator.

Yep and I already am considering singles only because of that.

But really it's all relative, buying 1 pack of super jumbo draft would basically be equal to a half box of regular hobby if it were offered but being guaranteed the auto. So instead of $70ish per Auto for hobby, it would be about $37ish per Auto for super jumbo.

In all honesty though, I don't understand why people even bother busting bowman anymore. Checklists are always way too big and production is always sky high.

Hence why I like EEE as an alternative, it may not have the same secondary market but at least it gives me the feeling of getting more bang for my buck.

I see that there will be Tebow autos in this, anyone interested in those?
