If you have an attractive female friend/family member between the ages of 18-25. That will be your best shot.

I never came back to this thread with an update.

So did the stalking thing after all, i managed to locate them at a hotel in miracle mile, i really don't remember the hotel's name. I waited for a while at the hotel lobby asked a couple of staff members if they knew something about it, but they all said they had no idea, at a certain point i was doubting if they were really staying at this hotel, maybe the staff is well trained to not give away this type of information.

Either way i was kinda anxious and was about to leave when i saw a bellhop carrying some bags and managed to spot a CLE logo, in that moment i knew it was only a matter of time until the players showed up at the lobby.

First person i spoted was T-Mac on the way out, i asked for a picture he declined and kept walking, i knew once the rest of the crew specially players on their way to the game would rush by the lobby on their way to the exit and into the bus.

I had prepared myself for this moment, i was jersey in one hand, camera on the other waiting for the perfect time..... That's when i spotted LBJ entering the lobby with his CUBS uniform (lost bet with wade) so i made my move told him i liked the cubs uniform and asked for an autograph which he denied, i immediately asked for a picture which this time ignored and was asked by his bodyguard to please step back and not keep insisting.

The one of the security guys from the hotel asked me to stop asking for autos, which i did and sadly had to step off the lobby and wait with the rest of the people who was waiting by the bus, at this point i was pissed because i didn't get what i wanted.

Even Kevin Love & Kyrie Irving denied pictures and autos.

Following players inside is a big no-no for autographs and pics.. hahah.. that's really is stalking and tresspassing! Best chance was waiting outside like the other people.. players might sign there or not at all.. almost no chance they ever do it inside. The last picture at the game seemed like a decent chance when they're walking on/off the court though. Better luck next time.

Outside is not the best idea. They create certain space between the hotel exit and the bus.

People stand there and wait for players, not one one them stopped to sign or greet fans.

All of them rushed into the bus.

Don’t talk the word stalk so literally.

They are famous and it’s quite normal to get approached by people for pictures and autographs. [emoji849]

I bet if you happen to cross by lebron at a mall you would ask for an auto, there is no difference.

Seems like the difference is intentionally waiting for a celebrity, knowing where they will be versus coincidentally walking into a celebrity.

Nevertheless sorry for what happened. Personally I’d be content seeing them in person. But that’s because there are no professional sports team where I am :(

I guess it is sort of the price you pay for being in the public eye. I am sure there are a lot of benefits to being famous, the flip side is there are going to be people who want pictures/selfies with you, autographs, etc. To the OP, I don't know if you can be too disappointed not getting any autos or pics with the players. Especially if they were on their way to boarding the bus to the game. I can't imagine there is much time for them to accommodate fans.

Side story: I was once in Houston for a work conference. Due to some mixup with the hotel, there were a handful of attendees, myself included that did not have a room. So, the few of us without rooms got moved to a different hotel, the Four Seasons (if I recall correctly). It happened that the Nets were in town for a game there. I did not realize this until I was in an elevator and Eddie House walked in. He had headphones on so we just sort of nodded at each other and went on our way. Nothing exciting, but that was my one sports player at a hotel sighting. I was hoping to see Jason Kidd sometime on that trip, but House was the only player I saw during my stay.

I agree it’s not the same, to stumble upon a celebrity and virtually chase them.

It’s not something i would normally do, but hey we only live once. I guess seeing them in person was more than enough.

I’m very familiar with the process. Outside the players have to choose to sign (like inside) but there’s an escape route/safety room for them. It’s way easier to chase teams when they stink instead of when they excel.

Many years ago my wife bought tickets for a Wolves vs Celtics game and we made a night of it by staying at a high buck hotel connected to the arena. I wore my Garnett jersey and in the elevator we struck up a conversation with one of the Celtics assistant coaches and Brian Scalabrine. I spoke to Doc Rivers after the game and saw Big Baby in the coffee shop. I guess when you’re staying at the hotel in question you get a little more leeway. I didn’t think about them being there, to be honest.

this one is tough, i've been lucky enough to have played ball with and regularly see the celeb types. i think it boils down to perspective and life experience. OP is from Honduras, i'm sure barring a few soccer players, that they don't have many celebs. you see arguably the greatest player in this era and yeah you're really hoping to land an autograph or photo or something, being pissed about it shouldn't be necessary because that's just life.

like i had mentioned i used to regularly play with a former nbaer, and though i probably could have asked for an autographed gamer, i felt it kind of taboo, we knew eachother by first name and i would have been embarrassed around my peers i guess. heck i played with a former bears pro bowler once and when i said something to a buddy about him after, he informed me he played for the bears..i had no idea just because everyone played with him and acted so regular since he was a regular.

but lets give this guy the benefit of the doubt here, this is an uncommon occurrence for someone in his region, it sucks but its a life lesson. not need to beat him up on it.

Going into the hotel is something that turns off most athletes. If you happen to be in elevator or on their floor as a guest it is one thing, but they can tell when someone is hounding and stalking them in the hotel. That is not the price they pay that is an area where a lot of hotels are smart and have a small trespassing sign and arrest people that pull that stunt. It creates security issues and turns players off from interacting with fans. Have a friend in NFL that was chased down the lobby getting off team bus and a team security member and hotel security member bodyslammed the guy to the ground and the team started clapping and yelling "FINALLY" and "Thank You"

They deserve some respect and peace.

To me, a convo is more reasonable than chasing a dude down to ask him to scribble on your stuff or take a photo for your Instagram. That's cool that they were willing to give you a few minutes, and I'm sure they appreciate a conversation instead of shoving a pile of stuff in front of them and handing them a Sharpie.

I saw Mo Cheeks at the mall a couple months ago... didn't say a word to him. Also saw Jameer Nelson at the same mall last year. I don't put being a pro athlete in the same category as actors. The only way you can compete at the highest level in sports is by being in a league that's in the spotlight.

I totally get where you are coming from.

First of all, i understand the athletes point of view, i said i felt kinda of pissed off because i would've expected them to be more welcoming to fans. I mean they are totally entitled to do what ever they want, they or not obliged to sing, greet or take pictures with fans.

Don't take the pissed of part so literally

We as fans build up certain expectation, you would expect or dream of them being friendly and take their time with fans... I mean we are the reason they earn big bucks.... i gladly payed $800 a ticket to sit court side and be able to see them walk near by.

I didn't feel entitled to an autograph or picture..... but being labeled as a weird guy just for looking for a picture or an autograph is just wrong.

I was never disrespectful i always kept my distance and respected the athletes choice to not have anything to do with me.

Why do you think players generally don't want to be bothered at their hotels?

Here's a question. If you knew a player's hotel room, would you knock on their door and ask for a pic or auto? If no, then you realize it's a private place. If yes, then you might be willing to take this way too far, lol.

A basketball player is like a traveling businessman, their second HOME is their hotel and with some road trips they can be there for a few days. To me and the ones I know you coming into the hotel is disrespecting them.

Your own words made you come across as entitled and yes I think it is weird to stalk someone into the hotel for a picture or autograph, especially when you see a crowd outside that should clue you in to staying outside. You stay outside like everyone else.

And then you double down We as fans build up certain expectation, you would expect or dream of them being friendly and take their time with fans... I mean we are the reason they earn big bucks.... i gladly payed $800 a ticket to sit court side and be able to see them walk near by.

This is entitlement coming through, your $800 ticket lets you sit courtside and watch them play. That ticket does not give you the right to harass and stalk them.

Text this thread to a few friends in the NFL and here were the responses

1) That hotel would be off his team's list for allowing this to occur and why cant fans understand they dont like when people come to their house and harass them.
2) This is why more players are carrying firearms and why teams/leagues are putting restraining orders on fans because of threats like this. (His team notifies the home team and the home team and the away team gets the fan banned from both their stadiums for life)
3) Is the stadium not enough, do I need to start going to fan's houses and cutting up their food before they eat it too?

Hahah another BO warrior.

Bro... I wasn’t harassing nobody.

I politely asked and respected the players decision not to have anything to do with me.

Yes i payed to be near them on the court, players like Curry and Klay almost always sign stuff for fans court side near the exit.

When i got to the hotel it was empty, read the thread, I wasn’t even sure they were staying there. Waiting outside was an option but since i got up to the lobby i then decided to wait there.

Say high to your NFL friends. [emoji112]

Look at your ticket what does it guarantee you? A seat or an autograph, they almost always sign at the ARENA.

Empty but you also mention how everyone else was outside at another point.

You knew better and you threw a fit when you didnt get your way, you even said stalking.

There is a time and place to chase autographs....At the hotel, restaurant, the airport etc is not the place. These guys are off the clock. They don't owe fans anything at that point.

At the stadium, ballpark, special appearances, charity events. Those are acceptable places to ask for pics and autographs.

Well going in to the hotel and getting a chance one-on-one was better than fighting the crowd outside. Still your chances only went from like one percent to two lol.

I do understand getting autographs at the bus or hotel instead because some guys are actually more willing to sign there instead of inside the stadium/arena.

anyways, the threads about in person autographs never go well on here...

You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning twice and then winning the Powerball before getting LeBron to sign an autograph for you. Just saying.

During the season yes, off season/ summer you have a better change, I see him about and usually say Hello or Hi, I've seen him sign stuff sometimes but most people here are respectful and say Hi and wish him well etc... usual Have a Good day small town talk. I've never asked him to sign outside of an event where he was signing, but i actually haven't seen him do any signings since he's come back.
