eBay case question

If an item was paid for on Dec 27th, how long should one wait until opening a case. I am not planning on doing so yet but I haven't heard from the seller after an initial conversation and the item hasn't been marked shipped. The seller told me they were going to let me know when it went out. Just wanted to make sure that if the time comes I will not be jumping the gun. Thanks in advance for the help.

I would expect them to contact you within a day or two to send the item. However, if they haven't sent it in one full week, I would probably open up a case. Especially if they're not returning your questions. Remember tomorrow is also a federal holiday.

The recent issues I'm having is when I print shipping labels from PayPal the tracking numbers not carrying over to eBay and marking the item shipped. I have to go in and do it after the fact. Called PayPal and they blame eBay - called eBay and they blame PayPal.

Not saying that's whats going on here but I didn't know that was happening until a few buyers emailed asking if I've shipped the item.

I wouldn't be worried yet, it's only been 4 business days, so it could have been mailed the 28th and just hasn't arrived yet. I always give 2 weeks before I consider opening a case. Does the seller have a handling time listed in the details section of the item? What's the estimated delivery date?

I had a $75 item last month that took 9 days, shipped priority, and the seller never put the tracking number into the system. Wasn't worried though, Ebay has buyers completely covered and protected. Nothing to worry about.

Now if the seller is sketchy, bad feedback, etc., then I might be a little concerned about getting the item. At the same time, Ebay's got you covered no matter what, so you'll either get the item or your money back.

Give it till Jan. 5th, that allows for Sun and the holiday.
If there's no tracking by then, open a case.

You cannot open a case on an Ebay item until one day after the estimated delivery date. The holidays have many sellers way behind.

Personally I wait 21 days after the payment was made.

Why don't you print the labels from ebay?

Many labels printed through Ebay are doing what is described. You can print them on Ebay, but the Ebay system does not pick them up and load the number. Its running about 1 in every 10 items for me.
