I have a question maybe someone can answer.
Its a comic show in February I plan on attending and cgc and cbcs pose to be there. I was thinking about sending some books off at show since they are not doing on site grading. My question well questions is. How do they handle your books (the cgc reps)? I keep getting this image of a giant bin they just throw your books in lol.
Also is it any cheaper to send books back with the CGC reps compared to mailing off myself ?

They take your books, put them in bubble wrap then put them in a comic box. When that box is full they ship it to their facility.
I've never had a comic damaged when I physically turn it into to them. I've had comics damaged when I've had them shipped. I'm really good at protecting comics for shipping and "supposedly" they were damaged when they arrived at cgc.
I usually wait to turn my stuff in now when I go to a con. It saves $ with shipping and insurance. Just make sure if you're doing blue labels to fill out the form at home to get your discount.

I always sub at shows. At the very least, you save on shipping. But also, I feel like it's slightly faster.
I always think of it this way... They are going to handle my books however they please when they receive them in FL, whether I subbed them at s show or mailed them myself. It's just one of those things that is out of your control.
If he is a member, he should get his discount either way. It should be applied when they invoice him, even if he uses the paper form. The new electronic form is nice though.

I thought the only way the discount applied was if you filled out the online form only. Guess I was wrong!

I'm always nervous when I hand over books but never had any issues. I once gave a rep a stack of books and he banged them against the table to even them out which I cringed at but I figure they handle hundreds/thousands of books at cons so they know what they're doing.. they're CGC employed, not some random person, they know the books are being sent off to be graded ..So hopefully they do so in a professional manner.
I always bag everything with mylar and fullbacks for optimal protection.
Then I watch until they safely place them in storage..

I feel safer handing them to CGC at a show then to entrust them with the post office.

Exactly. If you bagged and boarded your books well, Shouldn't be an issue. It's one reason I use standard instead of current. I like having a little extra board around the book.

Yep, same here.. use Standard.

Then print it and bring it with you for the discount.

That's what I do. I fill out the form at home and print it. Then turn them all into cgc at the show.
I thought the other guy was saying you still get a discount if you just sub on the "carbon copy" form at the show.

You still get a discount using the carbon form, as long as you put your acount number on it. The form will show $18, but when you get your invoice from CGC it will reflect your member price. If they screw up, call them.
It is faster and easier to use the eform, but you get your member price either way.
