Traditional logic follows that going from a team with tons and tons of collectors to a team that counts me and homerun and a couple other people as fans would take some value out of his stuff, but I've seen no movement down since the trade. Why is this? And follow up, what are people expecting him to do to maintain the current prices? I'll hang up and listen to your answer

Being the #1 overall prospect has it's perks

Sure he is not with a high profile team but people don't want to let them go for a cheaper price.

He's probably the top prospect in baseball. Top 3 for sure. Correa and buxton at one point commanded big money despite playing on b market teams.

Kopech hasn't fluctuated much either.

He has a clearer path now than he did with Boston.

He is on the white sox. Means he will not command the hobby money he would have in Bawston. Reason his stuff hasnt dropped yet? People spent good coin when he was with Boston, and dont want to take a bath now that he is no longer there

He's a shoe in on the MLB.com list based on Callis' personal top 50.
BA will be a completely different story (possibly). I don't see how you can be the number one prospect in the minors if you are t (were t) the #1 guy o your team.
Point being, Benintendi cards could look cheap right now come February.

People invested a lot and are not willing to sell at a discount. Same reason Buxton still sells for decent money.

Didn't exactly "hurt" (see what I did there) Frank Thomas' value.

Only 3 auctions for base Chrome autos since the trade and none for auction now.

This!!!!!! Also, when a card sells for a high number and a trade like this happens, people would rather keep the card (even if they lose money on it) instead of selling it at a discount and losing money on it anyway.

Aren't they down though? It seems to me sale prices have been lower at least since mid season prices

He's the number one prospect and remains in a huge baseball market. Sure, it's the other Chicago team, but keep in mind that no team has made more noise in the offseason than the White Sox have. Who knows, maybe we're a few years away from an all Chicago World Series.

Down to 17 on law's list, this should be interesting to track all season...

He's dipped. I bought a chrome auto for $225 I think when they were in the $300s for the longest time

What's your guess for top 5?
I'll go with:
1.Benintendi
2.Moncada
3.Torres
4.Swanson
5.Reyes

thats a nice top 5 list.
Btw, Moncada will get a good shot at cracking the Whitesox lineup out of ST..His prices were high out the gate based on hype and speculation etc. If he has a good spring or starts the year off in the majors and is doing well, his prices will no doubt go up. Remember, he came up and didn't do anything special. If n when that happens (he plays well and proves why he's a top prospect) that will be a nice "boom" for his cards/prices going forward...His play will be ultimately be the determining factor. Not the fact that he's no longer a Redsox...

Moncada needs more time in AAA. If he goes right to the majors they are just setting him up to fail

This is probably true. It's like a blessing and a curse..Meaning he's now on a team that he will get the opportunity to play on..However, that isn't necessarily the best thing for him...
