My 32nd birthday is tomorrow and in honor of the same number on his jersey, I wanted to unveil my KAT collection as I've been busy adding to it recently, and this will be a mainstay PC going forward to pair with my hockey player PC.

11 of the 36 are either reverse jersey # or his actual jersey #.

Just wanted to start my rolling thread for this PC and I will update as needed with new pickups just like my Anze Kopitar collection in the hockey forum. There will never be any monster logomans or NT RPAs (unless they cheapen which could be a bad thing), but I will get what I can of Towns and it complement my other player PC. Just wanted to share :)

I collect his UK college stuff, and I absolutely love seeing a collection like this... You have nearly every big RC of his here... you will get a NT RPA eventually... one day I may try to grab an Immac. RPA, but for now his college stuff is where I stay...

Yeah I kind of figured not too many were piecing a collection together unless they're in a Facebook group which I'm totally unaware of. My expectations are simple. I was just want him to be a good to great player and any personal accolades are all that sweeter and of course titles. I don't want him to hit LeBron status anytime soon anyways so I can afford to keep this up at least in some form. I was told big men don't get the hobby love as much so that's fine for me and my wallet :cool:

That's the beauty of it. I will have no regrets if I never grab a NT RPA just because it's cheaper now than later if he happens to fulfill a prophecy lol. My collection is not designed to be a completionist or perfect as I have lost a few auctions here and there in the last year that I could have been more aggressive on, but I'm happy with what I do have. My finances appreciate me being particular and not jumping at all the very best cards, but making solid, quality choices.

My example this month would symbolize this. I actually bidded on the Flawless Jumbo RPA Emerald /5 that was up for auction a couple weeks ago. I had the money to possibly still win that card despite the price tag at the end, but ended up turning that loss which did hurt initially into the Flawless RPA /25, the Immaculate Acetate RPA, and partially towards the Court Kings Sketches and Swatches Masterpiece. So 3 quality cards for the price of one really high end one. I'll try to grab a Jumbo RPA sometime in the future, but always stick to a gameplan on what I can buy that's available within some reason. I'll let you know in a year, how I feel :)

Good question. I kind of just keep it open constantly to what pops up for sale. I did want a Noir Color RPA but never saw one with a sig And patch I liked. Also a Flawless Jumbo RPA is on the wishlist, but not a ruby one. Gold or sapphire is preferred since emerald will be a bit too much for me.

Shoutout to spaldingsfinest for the deal on the Flawless Jumbo RPA. I know most prefer encased in the original holders, but a 9.5/10 on a patch card is a plus for me. I liked the patch on this too.

I now have the complementary pair of Noir RCs both numbered 32/99. I pulled the Gold Standard AU so that was helpful.

I love nabbing the Opening Night SP. Different photo than the base parallels and this one has great edges unlike many with chipped foil edges. The Spectra RPA is a double, but it has a better sig than my first one I bought and the gem slab for a patch card never hurts. And I nabbed the best card from Optic arguably outside of maybe the Gold Vinyl Sig Series. Pretty cards in person for sure.

I assume you mean the Gala sold by Probstein? I made offers, but I couldn't justify the price it did go for based on the previous sale. I know it's rare, but not worth $2500 which I believe is what won it. Spectra will remain undervalued and the one I'm buying isn't a true RPA. The seller of this Spectra had at least 7 offers pending when I was accepted and that doesn't include message offers he had. These cards are nice though.

Thanks. It's been a fun ride this year pushing my Towns PC as I've never focused on just 2 players till recently. When you cut the miscellaneous spending for other cards of random rookies and multiple sports, it's rewarding to see what a more focused collection looks like. I get what I can, but still pass on good stuff. If I could stop doing personal breaks altogether, I would really have some funds for purchasing power. One of these days I will learn.

Caved in on the NT Platinum 1/1. Don't ask me why I paid a $40 shipping charge for first class mail, but I did Lol. Glad to finally nab a Mojo Prizms. On the Game Gear, I love how they put these awesome letter patches with a sticker auto while some of the colossal are number or trim patch lol. I guess Panini actually thought to balance the sticker auto, a nice patch is a good counter.

I honestly didn't know the From Downtown was a holofoil image until I had it in hand. Scanners don't pick it up and I watched a Studio group break and still couldn't see the reflective nature. Cool.

Can't afford one with a signature on it, but man, to just get one of these for my PC is downright gratifying. I figured I may not get another chance to get one and my pickups were in a lull, so I grabbed it. Also helped I've been making money consigning my multi-sport collection. There will be many more logoman of him going forward, but in case his team and him get better, I wanted to buy one when the market is cooler. Just had to share this 1 card arrival :)

Decent ones cost $3500, so no, that ain't happening Lol. I'm never going to pay 3k or more for a card. I won't divulge personal reasons, but 3k is pretty much a personal barrier that won't be passed. Even $2500 on some of my KAT's is a huge purchase for me, so I mean it when I said this logoman is huge addition for me. If I were to even splurge hypothetically, I wouldn't have any funds for his latest cards for awhile. This was a time and place I was able to squeeze funds for this card and it was worth it to me for PC reasons, but definitely can't turn around and drop coin on an RPA even if one was available. It's ok. They're overrated anyways ;)

Honestly don't know. It's just a side PC. There's a member on here who has a big one with better high end than I do. I get what I can is all I can say. I don't have the level of personal connections that some collectors have, so I have to be vigilant to acquire what I do. I'm in a FB group of KAT collectors, but never really saw their whole PCs. Just bits. As for best, it would be personally hard for me to quantify it down to 10 for sure. 50 maybe, but never really thought about it.

He definitely has one of the best KAT collections around. Both quantity and quality. Whether it's the best, I have no idea. Somebody might be sitting on 35 KAT NT RPAs for all I know. mtlinroc has several great KAT cards, though I've never seen his whole collection.

All I can hope for is the best in terms of success. But I'm wary about everything around him currently. It took my hockey PC guy 6 years from debut to championship, so patience is a virtue.

He’s the real deal. But Everything else about that situation just feels bad. A little bit of chemistry would go a LONG way with that team.

Exactly my sentiment. Chemistry is the only thing to really improve since the roster is similar and there are still no good passers on the team. I watched enough games to notice they just take turns playing 1 on 1 each time down the court. I watched the other good teams in the playoffs and they just team pass way better. And yes, defense needs big help, but their defensive minded coach sure isn't channeling it to his players. And now Butler is worried about his next team which will only strain the chemistry. It will be another squirly 8 seed team sadly. Towns needs to concentrate on his defense and continuing his offensive repertoire. Only time will tell.

So I've now completed the 18/19 Revolution toughies. That is a Chinese New Year Holo Gold numbered 8/8 if the scan don't equate to some. Also, the Silhouette Prime was in a Facebook post by Panini back in late August so thrilled to land it in-person. Great (what we would deem old school now) patch. 17/18 Silo Primes are one of the best designs of all of them especially after a saw a base KAT one for 18/19.

With the great look of Optic this season, a Checkerboard was a must have. Especially free of refractor lines like I've seen on a few. And the grandaddy Kaleido auto 1/1! I wanted this card so badly as I've never seen the previous 2 years. Super exciting addition to the PC :)

Nope. Never could pull the trigger on a rainbow even when I get the 1/1 early enough. Personal pet peeve of storing all those high numbered parallels in boxes is my hesitation I guess. Also money saved from buying all those parallels is extra funds for good stuff.

Seems to be just simple initials KT. I think he knew it was different because it's the only one signed that way and he added #32 which he doesn't do for every 1/1 either.

These are sweet cards when the design background has full color filling. 19/20 is nice.

Well hello BK community... Had not bought a KAT card since early February but found myself grabbing 2 must haves during endless eBay browsing these days. Loved the pic on the T-Minus card and this is the Black Prizm 1/1 in case you cannot tell. Also, the Gallery of Stars from last year's set might as well be a White Whale. I searched for months since Court Kings came out back in April last year and never saw one when I stopped in February searching. But just happen to see this and instantly clicked. Card number 1 in the set and first copy I've ever seen happened to be in Australia. Crazy difficult to find, especially since I've seen multiple copies of every other player in the set.

To update further, once I feel more comfortable selling regularly, I will be slimming my Towns collection down to necessities or super favorites. Probably next year at the rate we're going.
