Hey,

It's been awhile since I opened one of these, but I always found them interesting so I bought the last one from an online retailer. Pretty decent break. Here are the goods:

The hand painted Osama Bin Laden card (numbered 1/10) is very well done and goes nicely with the Rommel that I already had in my collection (scan below). At 160 of these painted cards total, they were pretty tough to find.

The autograph is Commanding Officer John Herren from the Vietnam War. Mr. Herren led B Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Calvary. The story of one of his platoons "The Lost Platoon" during the Pleiku Campaign was told in the film "We Were Soldiers." That's what I gathered from some internet searching, really enjoyed learning the history behind the card.

Nice art cards! Congrats. :)!

I think it's cool when trading cards help us learn historical facts.

Yeah the art cards were 1:10 box case! I opened a lot of this because it's right up my alley.

Looking back on the set announcements, apparently this Osama Bin Laden card caused quite a stir and many folks were offended. Not trying to start up a debate again, I understand both sides points of views. I honestly would have rather pulled Eisenhower or Churchill, but I can appreciate the work that went into the two painted cards I did pull.

Congrats on the art card. I opened quite a bit of Series 1 and 2. I forced myself to stop after pulling a Civil War cut.

I understand wanting to learn the history and stuff, and if this is your cup of tea, then open away. Trading Cards just feel like a commendation of sorts to me, so having signatures made into cards or their portraits painted on them, feels like they are getting way more respect then they deserve. I know there are plenty of people who collect war memorabilia. Even Hitler's autograph. It's just not personally my thing. To me they do not deserve a place in my collection. That's just my thought on the card, since you asked. I'm sure other people feel differently and view the cards differently than I do, so collecting them is something they like.
