Sold this person a card in early January and it was delivered on January 9th. Got a message this morning from eBay saying they're filing a dispute. In the message, this person said the tracking said it was delivered but they never got the card and asking what I can do for them. Again, this message/dispute is coming three weeks after the delivery date.

Anyway, figured I'd give everyone a heads up so they don't try this nonsense with anyone else on here.

This is becoming a very real and widespread scam on Ebay these days. Happened to me recently on a low value card.

It seems when it's a lower value item, Ebay automatically takes the hit and refunds the buyer on your behalf even if you provide the obvious tracking details that show delivery, but they don't deduct it from your account. So the buyer keeps the card, and the money.

It's ridiculous, but what isn't ridiculous about Ebay these days?

All I would suggest is pay the extra few bucks and send it registered so they have to sign that they received the package.

If it says it was delivered then you probably don't have anything to worry about

This has happened to me a few times as well, really frustrating...

In playing devil's advocate, I had something that was delivered, however, the package had a neat slit at the end and the card was obviously gone. Filed the issue with the post office and never heard back.

Did you wait three weeks to file with the Post Office?

No, I went the next day to the post office. What is the right way and/or form to file an issue like that?

What you did was right, he's referring to the scammer receiving an item...then claiming 3 weeks later it wasn't in the package.

I had a card last year that was listed as delivered but I didn't get it. I contacted the seller to let them know but I told him that he did his side of the sale so I wasn't filing a claim (it was a low dollar card anyway) it turns out that it was put in to a neighbors mailbox.

Sadly the neighbor (I still don't know which one) decided to wait 3 months before they marked the letter "Wrong Address" and sent it back in the outgoing mail, not that my neighborhood was large and they could have easily brought it to my house or even put it right back in the mailbox with a note but I guess asking common courtesy is too much for some people.

This kind of issue happened to me twice. First time is I bought a cheap card off ebay and I realized i didn't receive it after a while then I checked the tracking, it was delivered like a week ago. Second time is I bought a 1k card from ebay, was looking at tracking everyday, it was a Saturday, the moment i saw "delivered", I ran downstairs and checked my mailbox, empty. So i ran to the local po, they told me they didn't know why and wouldn't provide with me the driver's contact info, so I just drove block after block to look for usps drivers, after asked 3-4 drivers, 1 told me which block should i look for the driver for my apt building. I found him, he was like i delivered that right in the mailbox, i was like nothing was in there, but he insisted. So i went back to check the mailbox again just in case, turned out it was still empty. So i found that driver again and he came back with me, guess what, he delivered that to my neighbors mailbox, but he didn't even say sorry. All in all, such things happen.

eBay put a hold on my payment now and the buyer hasn't responded to the message I sent over 24 hours ago. Called eBay CS and they said he has three business days to respond.

The CS rep said the guy has a Chinese address on his account, but the shipping address on his Paypal account when he placed this order was to Massachusetts.

This can only help your chances of winning the case.

Agreed, sounds like the same guy as here: http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/basketball/1068172-ebay-user-bebeh080208.html

There was someone in that post that said he believe's the guy has several user names on Ebay.

Naturally, the buyer never responded to my message through the dispute. Called eBay this morning and they closed the case in my favor.

Avoid this clown.
