View Full Version : Anyone else having problems receiving cards from China?

I purchased 6 different cards from 6 different sellers from China from Dec 7 to Jan 12. All sellers are reputable with good feedback and provided tracking numbers.

The tracking numbers don't do a thing (I think that's normal) and I haven't received ANY of them! I've also made quite a few purchases from Canada, US and Europe. Oh and I live in Canada... and I've received everything with not one package missing except every single one I've bought from China.

I know it's normally slow and they had the Lunar New Year in between, but this seems bizarre... anyone else having issues or is it just me?

YESS!!!!! I'm glad someone posted about this. Bought a Stauskas NT RPA /25 on Christmas Day from Mini-Sea. Last tracking update was 12/28! I don't know what the hell is going on. I usually get stuff from China in 2 weeks tops.

It took over 5 weeks to get my last card from China. I won't buy from overseas unless it's a rare card I don't think will pop up again.

Its a dice roll with china both buying and selling. If the package gets in the wrong hands your screwed. Never had a problem with other countries though

Canadapost no longer provides tracking for international registered mail. This means it will lose all tracking after your package leaves China.

FYI, it usually takes 2-3 months to receive a package from China to Canada. PM me your tracking if you want, I'll see what I can find.

From Wikipedia: The amount of time it takes for a cargo ship to travel between China and the United States depends on the exact route and the speed of the ship. In most cases, these journeys take between two weeks and a month to complete."

I bought a card from China 6th Jan, posted 7th Jan and left sorting centre Guangzhou 8th Jan....nothing changed on tracking since. Just over a month without an update!

It's not just China though (although they can hands down take the longest), Canada post is also garbage. I sent some cards from Australia on 30th Jan, arived in Canada 6th Feb (which is really fast from here to US/Canada) and no movement since.
I live on the wrong side of Australia for overseas packages from the US as it comes into Sydney. It takes a week just to get from the East to West of Oz!! Our postal system is horribly expensive and slow as hell. To send a card O/S from Oz with tracking and signature $24 AUD about $20 USD.

I purchased two cards from China, and the tracking didn't update for about 4 weeks. Cards did arrive eventually, but the seller said he had every US buyer having the same problem.

I just got a package from China. 9 days from winning the auction. Then a day later i got one that took just over 4 weeks.

The problem with China mail is it's all about timing. For basic mail it literally gets crammed into shipping containers and sits there until the container is busting at the seams before it gets shipped.

You also have to take the Chinese New year into account at this time of year. Stuff isn't going to move at all for one to two weeks. Everything shuts down.

I've purchased 11 items from China in the span of Christmas to the end of January. I have received all of them. I have had Chinese packages take 2-3 months to get here on multiple occasions though.

if the tracking number starts with LK, it's pretty safe and fast, and you can tracking all the way to "delivered", the fasted one I experienced was only 5 days, from Beijing to be delivered in LA, if starts with RA/RB, it may take longer.
There are 3 international airport to receive overseas package, in LA, Chicago and NY. Usually the LA is the fastest.

R means registered.

sending a registered mail is like sending a letter mail, except registered mail provides the confirmation for the sender that the package is delivered. (I learned it in a hard way :( )

for some reason registered is super cheap in some asian countries, so ppl often abuse the service by using it as a tracking instead of paying the more expensive tracking service. I bought a lot of cheap electronics, gadgets from China and even a $0.99 free shipping item often gets a "tracking".

That's why some countries, like Canada, stopped providing "tracking status" for the international registered mail, because they didn't get enough money to provide the "tracking service". They are processing those registered mail slowly, forcing the senders to use the more expensive tracking service.

First of all, just let you know I am from China and an eBay seller as well. Frankly speaking, I am as also very disappointed about China Post system because of their very poor tracking system and services. I have been selling lots of stuff to everywhere of the world, 98% of the transactions went well but sometimes also freaking out with some mail lost or delay for long time. Currently, I am using a separate shipping system provided by EMS where only US,UK,AU are the countries that could be shipped via EMS' E-package with auto updated tracking once it is shipped out. However, for rest of the world, the only way of shipping will be regular international registered airmail where I have to go to Post Office every time. The funny thing is not all the China Post Office accepts this kind of mail with bubble envelope instead of asking for shipping as package with box, which will cost at least double time (normally I charge $5 for shipping on eBay to cover the envelope/card holder/fees). And the worst thing is the "tracking number" for the registered mail are always NOT BEING UPDATED on their website....so sometimes I have to say sorry to those buyers who are asking for tracking but they are not updated with long shipping time. Well, I therefore would suggest those who want to buy from Chinese Seller on eBay, be in mind that sometimes shipping delays, with no actual tracking movement. Being a little bit patient and having better communication with your seller. Lastly, I do very much appreciated for those who had been dealt with me in the past with smooth transactions via eBay (my eBay ID: willsmith48) or here. Thanks again

Just would like to share some cases I recently received with unreceived request on eBay, to let you know how poor the China Post system is.
1. 23 Days Delivered from China to New Zealand. Buyer complained after 2weeks so I issued the refund since it was only $1 deal. However, I think this is still within normal shipping time to overseas.

2. 46 Days delivered from China to Hungary. Shipped on 23DEC2016, nothing updated after 25th, then showed up it was in Hungary on 6FEB2017, WTF is that system???? I do appreciate for the Buyer's patient for such long wait.

3. More than 3 months. Shipped on 16NOV2016 to France, nothing updated after 18NOV, then showed up 13FEB2017 that it is on the way to delivered. WTF is between? Already refund the buyer.

4. Missing in transit? Shipped on 29DEC to Philippines, Arrived in Philippines on 12JAN for Custom, then 15JAN in transit.....until today.....what should I say...

5. Hope it will arrive soon. Shipped on 6JAN to Canada, nothing updated after 9th....still not receive yet......

I am really sorry for those who had such bad experiences buying cards from China, but I have to say this is totally out of our control, and nothing being changed sufficiently from the China Post for the last decades maybe because they never really care. However, I strongly recommend for those who have COMC account or US account, be sure to use it rather than requesting shipment to your own country if you are buying from China. I have zero complains for shipping to US address by using the E-Package system (that is provided by EMS, even though they are also belong to China Post). E-Package is only available for US/AU/UK so far. Or, you can always request for EMS/Fedex/UPS with much higher shipping cost on high-end deals.

Lastly, thanks for reading on my long post, and your understanding is much appreciated.

Well, if the Seller is big enough with volume, he could get some deal or contract with 3rd party like forwarder who can support on his eBay sales. But for me as an individual seller without big volume, the system only support for those three countries as mentioned (used to have Russia, but no Canada, I also think it is wired). I tried to contact the vendor once but they requested for 1000 sales per month which is too much for me, because I am selling cards only for my personal hobby not for work not for job. This above is only my personal opinion. Thanks
