Good trade for Denver. I like what I've seen of Plumlee. Sad to see Nurk go but hopefully he'll be happier and get more playing time in Portland. I think he can still be a great player under the right system.

great trade for portland i would say, a 1st rd pick around #20 or something plus trading the players. i would not wanna pay someone with absolutely zero offensive game like plumlee close to 20 mil per year which is what portland would have had to do, i think nurkic could easily average 15 and 10+ if given enough minutes, plus he is physical and young.

i dont know why denver refused to play nurkic very much, jokic is probably their franchise player, but they couldnt play nurkic at pf or at least 20 mins per game? i dont know why they let lauvergne go either, he did well in his minutes. they went from having 3 good young centers to now having 2 and plumlee doesnt have the potential of nurkic. hes not bad in all aspects except for being a total non-shooter. id say portland won that exchange.

They tried moving Jokic to pf and that didn't work, so they're obviously going to leave him at C with the beast of a season he's having. Are they going to try playing with two centers again after the disaster that happened with Jokic/Nurkic at the start of the season?

I like this trade for both sides. Nuggets get a solid player who is smart with the basketball, and the Blazers get a 3rd 1st-round pick in a stacked draft -- if they can hit on all, or even 2, it'll be a win for them.

Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. It's been well known that Nurkic wasn't happy with his role since Jokic was put into the starting lineup. He just didn't fit playing next to him and he wasn't that great wth the second unit either. They tried but it just never worked. I just hope Plumlee is a fit.

This is a great trade for Portland. It could be a good trade for Denver, too (win/win scenario).

Plumlee's K expires at the end of the year. It's clear why Portland did it and this is a smart trade for them no matter what. They replace Plumlee with a capable C, one who offers more rim protection, too. There was no way they were going to re-sign Plumlee at the end of the year anyway, unless they moved both Crabbe and Turner (each of which was a terrible contract this offseason). Adding another pick is huge.

I don't like Denver moving that pick. I'm a Grizz fan, but I don't think it's homerish to say that this pick won't be in the lottery. However, it's still a first round pick and Portland could very well move up in the draft with it. Nurkic wasn't working, but I doubt Plumlee is going to love coming off the bench for a mediocre team, either. They could win the 8th spot, I suppose, but why do they even want to be fed to the Warriors? Better off just getting another lottery pick this year. They just have SO much mediocrity at every position. Jamal Murray could be interesting and Jokic is one of the top bigs in the league, but that's pretty much it. Faried is overrated and isn't a great interior defender. Wilson Chandler, Jameer Nelson (/ Emmanuel Mudiay), and Gary Harris are nothing special. Barton's as good sixth man, though. This team really kind of needs everything and this trade doesn't really move the needle in that regard. If Plumlee can play with Jokic, it could be good, though, but again, I don't see why they want the 8 seed.

I agree with your logic here but we really need to make the playoffs this year to get our fanbase back on track and for our young guys to experience some sort of success. That's priority number one IMO, and was likely at least some of what sparked this trade i'd guess.

We've had some of the lowest attendance in the league and it just sucks for the players as there's no one there to hype them up at home games. The exception being the occasional weekend game when it's like half full at the Pepsi Center.. It's just sad. When the team played over in London with the backing of a packed stadium they fed off that energy and came out with a blowout performance. It was almost all I needed to see to realize that it's one of the key elements we're lacking here in Denver that most other winning franchises have.

I fully realize that's not all there is in creating a winning franchise, but it would be a huge boost for the team and fans IMO to get to the playoffs this year. Even if it means getting blown to pieces by the Warriors, it's at least something. It's also the perfect time to have that happen with the Broncos and Avs both coming up short this year.

Will Plumlee help get us there? I hope so but it's certainly not like we traded for a superstar or anything so who knows if it'll work out.. I think we need to make a few more moves before we can really pull ahead so i'm hoping another trade deal or two goes down before the deadline, but this is a good start IMHO.

Hopefully he gets some playoff burn this year. Definitely not a traditional center, but a gamer. Nets could go after him as a RFA if BroLo is traded.

Seems like it could be a win win but I'd say the advantage seems to be with Portland. Getting a 1st rounder and nurkic is a nice haul. He has a lot of upside where I don't think plumlee has much more than what you see

Plumlee is smart and a very good passer, which are two of Jokic's most prominent attributes. Even though he's not on the level of Jokic, he should allow the Nuggets' second unit (or any lineup without Jokic) to operate similarly to the starting lineup, with much less of a drop-off, theoretically. Because of Plumlee's higher basketball IQ, superior (and more willing) passing, and better athleticism, he should be able to play with Jokic for stretches without many of the problems that the "Jurkic" lineup had. Plumlee can take on most of the defensive assignments for the more athletic bigs, and can help with rim protection on drives where Jokic still is not quite quick enough to slide over.
