He's only insuring that no one will get a hit out of any of those packs. How would you like going to buy cards and being guaranteed that you will not get an auto/jersey?
Oh. I didn't know what he was doing. Thought he was opening stuff. Yeah that would stink. Do people at hobby shops do this?

Depends on how reputable the shop is.
Oh. There isn't any hobby shops up here anymore. I wonder what the guy in the picture is going to do with the cards? You think he lays on them naked and sticks his finger in his butt?

I don't know why more manufacturers don't use decoy cards for instances like this. Have a card that's the same size/cut as a relic but is just totally blank.

Don't know if that would help. These guys have a way around everything. I don't think card companies can prevent this nor do I think they care. I collect baseball but my young kids collect football. I remember a time I was at Wal Mart with my kids to get them a few packs and there was a pack searcher. I told him he was ruining for people like my kids. He responded by telling me I was ruining it for my kids because I wasn't pack searching for them. I just gave up at that point.

The look on that lady's face is hysterical ! I like the idea of just walking over there, saying excuse me, and then swiping his little stack o packs and mixing up all the others that he is trying to fondle. Seriously, card companies could do more to thwart this. The more blaster and Solid fondle-free type packaging they use the better. I like the idea of including blank jersey cards with same look and feel, along with fake sticker cards that would have that sticker auto feel to one of these losers. Might not solve the problem, but making it harder for them to get away with this would certainly thrwart their efforts...

Actually, if you look closely, his jacket is made from 24,658 Clint Frazier relic swatches that he has been collecting now for 3 years. It's obvious (the hair) that Clint is actually his illegitimate brother who wants nothing to do with him. This is the only way that he can have any connection to his brother....it's quite sad actually.
And the woman in the picture is actually a covert operative with the CIA looking for secret messages in Garbage Pail Kids packs.

I feel so dirty any time I go to the card section at Target, which isn't often, by the way. I just feel like so many gross, pack-fondling people have been there. The only thing I ever get at Target, again, seldom, are blaster boxes.

Just FYI.. in all honesty did anyone ever think about the fact that some people have disabilities like autism.. or others that are hard to determine or notice right away? My son has autism and I would feel horrible if someone took pictures and put them on the internet like this.. just offering some thought to why people might be different

That's just how some are here. We don't even know if OP is telling the truth. He took a picture of some guy looking at a pack of cards and they want to assume that he's either poor or not living on his own, that he is homosexual.

If you don't want to buy retail - don't buy retail. And don't give me this "it's the only place within 100 miles to buy packs" shtick. BO sells packs and will drop them off at your front door.
People need to just get over this. Pack searchers aren't breaking any laws unless they are bending packs, which I've bought plenty of retail and never had a problem with damaged cards.
The dude who is just ripping open blasters and stealing packs at my Meijer however...that's effed up.

So I am new to collecting again ( been out of the game for 20 years) Does this mean I shouldn't buy any packs from open boxes?
Hobby stores I wouldn't worry about. Retail it's usually pretty easy to tell if they've been searched because most of these guys are too lazy to put the packs back. However when I bust retail it's usually more to chase rookies or refractors, stuff you can't search for
