Have him talk to his carrier, there is nothing more you can really do on your end. You will most likely win the claim should he file one. As long as it shows it was delievered to the zip code shown in the shipping information.

I hate that the USPS leaves items on the porch. You're probably being scammed but I've had multiple things stolen off of my front porch so he could be telling the truth. I'd tell him to open a case against you, you're almost guaranteed to win. He then can fight it with Ebay and they will likely reimburse him out of their own pocket. It is the post office's fault but they are worthless and will do nothing to help you nor will they pay out a claim.

So, even though you expect packages and you know you're not going to be there, you have no safe place for the USPS to place your package? And you think that is the fault of the USPS?

Do you know how many packages they would have to carry around if they always had to wait for someone to physically be there?

for some reason usps changed the delivery adress city, than what was labeled on the ebay slip. luckily they held the bat at the local shipping wharehouse even though it says delivered. thank god.

I live in a house with an unenclosed front porch. I buy a lot on Ebay. It isn't my fault that seller's ship things that won't fit in a mailbox and where signature confirmation isn't needed. I can't be at home 24/7, what would you have me do? I've informed UPS, Fedex and USPS that if I'm not home, take the item back to the office and I'll go pick it up. They still leave items on a regular basis so yes, I think that is their fault.

Also, even if there is signature confirmation, USPS will almost always leave the item on the front porch even if no one is home. However, today, I apparently had an item show up that had signature confirmation. I am working from home and my desk is within 9' of the front door. No one came to the door, they just put the slip in the mailbox. USPS is a pooshow as is almost every government run agency but I digress.

This should never, ever happen but is just one more example of how much USPS sucks.

So is it the post offices fault, or the idiots who do the actual stealing off someone else's porch? I hate dealing with the post office as much as the next person, but to blame them for some low life lurking around and stealing stuff off your porch? Nah.

LMAO. Yeah, it's the fault of the USPS when theft allegedly happens over and over and you don't do anything different. Most rational people would get a post office box for deliveries if they lived in the ghetto. The excuses for why that is not possible for you begin in 3....2....1......

If the USPS sucks so bad, pay another $10 for delivery and ask the seller to use FedEx.

I have a PO Box. It's my main address. I absolutely HATE having things delivered to my home because it gets left on the porch. Never had anything stolen luckily. But 99% of the time I want something larger than an envelope sent to me, sellers say no PO Boxes! Baffles me.

So packages only get stolen if you live in the ghetto? I have had them stolen from my mailbox when I lived in the middle of nowhere. There were about a dozen stolen over Christmas time in a local gated community of about 80 500K dollar homes. Theft can happen anywhere.

I don't even know why I bother with you, you're such an arrogant prisk. For your information, I live in a pretty damned nice golf course community. For some reason the thieves like coming here to steal as we seem to have nicer stuff than do the people in the lower socioeconomic areas. I'll refrain from using the word that you did and for what should be obvious reasons.

And yes, when I've told my driver time and again not to leave packages on the front porch and he does anyways, he certainly shares some fault even if he isn't doing the actual thievery.

I need to pay more due to their incompetence? That's hilarious.

Don't get me wrong, I find it amazing that they can send things to as many places as they do and for what are in truth, pretty damned reasonable prices. I'm also not saying that all postal employees are bad or don't care but I am saying that in my experience, a large percentage of them are. Same can be said of any profession though.

This is all so easily fixed for $30 a month....a UPS mailbox....it is such a no brainer to me anyway...I have all my larger packages and wax sent to UPS store...single cards sent to my PO Box

That was the point flying way over your head.

If you think the USPS is incompetent, stop paying for their service. If you think they're incompetent and you still choose their service, stop whining. Can't have it both ways.

Stating facts is not whining. What delivery service an Ebay seller uses when I purchase items is not up to me so I can't "stop paying for their service". If you are going to say things like "that was the point flying way over your head", maybe your "point" should make sense.

I'd love for you to tell me which "two ways" I'm trying to have it, this should be entertaining. Try to use as much snark, condescension and general a-holeness as possible, anything less would be disappointing.

It's just a shame that there are so many scumbags out there stealing off people's front porches.

Gawd, humanity is disgusting sometimes.

Hopefully your claim is resolved but EBay will side with the buyer if it was stolen off your porch and you'll be forced to give a refund especially if PayPal was used.

What's funny is that you are just as snarky, condescending, and full of general a-holeness as I am. The thing that really bothers you is that someone else does it better.

By the way, you can absolutely tell the seller that you will pay more for shipping, and then they can choose FedEx as their shipper. The reality, though, is that you just wanted to piss and moan. You don't really care all that much.

Absolutely true. I think where I see the difference though is that you always start that way out of the box. I don't usually go that route unless given the reason to do so. That's my story anyways, you likely see it differently.

The thing that really bothers you is that someone else does it better.

Not even close.

By the way, you can absolutely tell the seller that you will pay more for shipping, and then they can choose FedEx as their shipper.

I made over 350 Ebay purchases last year, all were shipped to me USPS and not one of those sellers asked which company I wished to have ship the items.

If I had mentioned that I wanted to use Fedex and would pay more to do so would they have done so? Maybe but again, that isn't the point, why should I need to pay more because USPS is substandard. You fault me for complaining but not them for giving me something to complain about?

The reality, though, is that you just wanted to piss and moan.

I do enjoy this more than I should, you've got me there.

You don't really care all that much.

Not terribly far off. Yes, the packages that were stolen pissed me off but it happened twice last year out of 350 shipments. Not exactly life shattering. If they had listened to me and not left items on the porch it would have been zero stolen but somehow life has gone on anyways.

I've sold 200+ items since January 1st and there is no way I'd ship FedEx unless you want to give me $50 for my troubles.

If the item shows delivered to the correct zip code Ebay will not force the seller to refund. At the most they will pay the buyer themselves, but many cases the buyer is the one who loses.

Think about it if Ebay refunded everybody for saying this then this would happen a lot more often. I have had this happen many times over the years on Ebay and have never had to refund a buyer once.

they are not obligated nor do they have to especially after you win the auction. Shipping via anything but USPS is a hassle. Fedex I would not wish on my worst enemy and UPS here is just a hassle.
