Hey Guys,
I apologize because I hate these types of posts where people are asking for values. However, I've looked everywhere I know to look and I've searched Terapeak as far back as I can and I can't find record of the last time one of these sold. I don't do much basketball but I acquired this in a collection recently. If anybody can give me any info on the value of this thing or what the last one sold for it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I would guess much higher than this^^....... not sure on the value but I think at least $300-600, maybe more if you get a bidding war

I'm with you. Very rare and early UD autos=big money. I know I'd give $150 right now and I don't collect the set or player lol

LOL, yeah. I've gotten offers over $600 already and somebody else told me the smart thing to do would be to run it straight on ebay and hope for a bidding war. Being a baseball guy I really have no idea. Are there others that signed in this set besides Kareem and Dr. J?
Yeah, that's a crazy nice card.

No one thinks the BGS 8 hurts the price?
I looked in an old beckett and the price range is between 400-800.
Factor in panini proliferation and the bad grade then most likely 250-300 as only kareem and Dr. J had an autograph parallel in the set.
What would you guys pay for this if not less than $200? Unless you know a specific set collector who is going after this set, I wouldn't pay $200 for the chance to flip it - not worth my time.....I would take $600 if I were you. That's a more than fair price, unless you wanna be greedy, haha.

1) UD > Poopini
2) Early "vintage" autos rule. Can't compare modern auto of X player to vintage auto of X player.
3) One and two is plenty!

If this was a poopnini card, it would be $50, haha.
So how much more should it be?
For you bgs gem mint millenials, how much of a deduction factor would you include for the bgs 8 grade?
The pop report is 5 graded, and this is the lowest grade with two copies graded an 8. There is one bgs 8.5 out there, one bgs 9 out there, and there is a bgs 9.5.
Would you guys still pay over $600 for this card?

Honestly, imo the grade doesn't matter too much on a card this rare. Having the grade is more of an assurance that the card is a real auto /33.
...Having said that, I would reslab the card because the crooked auto grade would drive me nuts

This card is easy to underestimate, but a lot of collectors understand that this card is insane.
Grade of the card doesn't matter as much compared to the quality of the auto for these kinds of cards. And this one has a crisp bold auto even though it's 18 years old, and the card itself actually looks beautiful despite the grade.
And to top it off, this and the Dr. J are the first non-Jordan NBA licensed Jersey autographs.

Well, good luck battling it out guys, I'd much prefer an exquisite kareem at one fifth the cost. Too each his own. I'd probably wait for a higher grade to surface if I was going to shell out the cash for my collection.

You've got your answer already but I'll chime in. As a Lakers guy, with a Lot of Kareem stuff, I'd say it's around $400-500. Non- Lakers collectors won't understand the value as much, but it'll sell easily at that level.

That set is extremely rare. This is a really popular set. A PSA 8 Epic Signatures Kareem regular version got about $130 on auction. I could see this Jersey auto /33 being $500 + easy to the right person.

As others already mentioned, was a very tough pull and the last one to sell was 3 years ago. Cards like these are sitting in Laker/HOF PC's that likely will not be seen for a great period of time. LOL @ the guy persistently trying to say it is only worth $150... Really...?

LOL! I have not offered the card to anybody, I have not posted the card in the buy/sell forum, and I have not contacted anybody privately asking if they are interested in the card. The card will go to ebay like I planned all along but since I'm not a basketball guy I wanted to get some opinions so I don't price it at $200 and I don't price it at $10k. Thankfully a lot of people here have been very helpful. I'll assume you took a shot at me because you're embarrassed about having no idea what you're talking about (as evidenced by responses to your estimate).

You had several offers over $600 and you are intelligent enough to do your own research. You say you are a baseball expert yet you have the EXACT same kind of thread on the baseball boards asking a value price on a baseball card. I threw you a low ball estimate to find out your intentions and obviously you are advertising for your upcoming auctions. You buy/sell all the time on these boards, we know you are a flipper.
Good luck on your auction, please don't feign interest on a card you purchased to flip, obviously you got a steal and didn't even know what you had. But please don't make assumptions on my expertise based on one response. I've been doing this for a long time, I probably have becketts that are older than most people on these boards. Hopefully the card eventually lands in the hands of someone who can truly appreciate it.

How is he getting low-balled when he has already gotten offers over $600? He's obviously trying to increase exposure to maximize his sales- he's a cunning businessman.
I told you I personally would not pay over $200 for it- I have zero interest in the card. I hope he gets over $1000+ for it - the better for him.
All you "good" members here, perhaps you are all low balling as well, or conversely putting him in a situation where he can't move the card since his expectations may be too high. Hopefully he can find that one guy who will pay him $1200 for it.
Still doesn't erase the fact that 1. His intent is to 100% sell the card and 2. He will increase exposure by posting here.
Shouldn't this be in the B/s/t section instead?
All you benevolent experts here, why don't you put your money where your mouth is and pay the man $800. Wait, no takers? You gotta love the blowout Monopoly money flowing around here....

I am not sure where you think the OP offered to sell this item? He didn't even say the card was his:confused: He stated he tried to do his own research but couldn't come up with anything relative. He then proceeded to ask for help from the blowout basketball community and the first response he receives is your low ball attempt to maybe flip for yourself.
I am just glad we have mostly honest members here who are willing to help others out when they seek it.

Read his posts, he is SELLING the card. He's just good at decorating his post to draw out those who are well intentioned to "help" him, but ultimately he is advertising to sell the card.

No offense, if you have been given advice to run it at auction to find out what the card may sell for, then do that. Posting it here and getting feelers after getting such advice comes off more like a BST thread trying to get offers.

I shouldn't bother trying to explain myself to you but I will anyway:
Like I mentioned from the get go, I posted the card here because I know nothing about it. In my 7 years on this site this is my first thread EVER in the basketball discussion forums. I figured the card was good but I had no idea if that mean $100 or $5k so I came here. I also knew based on my research that these don't pop up very often so I figured people might want to see it. Posting it here does nothing for the resale value. The same people on here that are interested in it would have found it on ebay had I started this topic or not.
Why would I put it in the B/S/T section if I don't know a price to put on it and I'm not trying to sell it here anyway?
Yes, I have another thread going in the Baseball section, what does that have to do with this card? I state in my baseball thread that I'm a rookies/prospects guy therefore I know nothing about the Boggs card. Why? Because the last ones sold were in 2002 and 2014. I PM'd the person that gave me the info about how to look up auctions that old and he gave it to me so now I know for next time.
Again, the fact is you embarrassed yourself in this thread and you're attacking me for it.
Wade Mulroy

In fairness, both cards (Kareem and Boggs) that the OP is asking about are extremely rare cards from 15+ years ago. The fact that neither have appeared in any auctions in years justify the question being proposed to the community.
Honestly, if I were in the OP's shoes, I'd be doing the same thing. Even if I had been getting offers on ebay, I would like to know a good figure to counter with. You never know when you're going to find an expert on the set or someone who previously owned and sold one.

I don't mind explaining where the offers are coming from. As soon as I started the thread people started contacting me about the card. I made it known that the card will eventually be for sale once I find out a good estimate on the card. I really didn't want to put it out with a ridiculous BIN and scare people away and I really didn't want to put it out too low either. The first person that PM'd an offer based it off the first reply in the thread that said the card was worth $150. He said he thought it was worth more than that and offered $200. The next few offers that came in were from people that continued to offer to "beat" the estimated values people were posting in the thread.
The people that made the offers have all posted in this thread and if they like they can verify that I never solicited an offer, told them the amounts of other offers in hopes that they would beat the other guy, or anything other than that I planned to eventually put the card on ebay.
I've been given all sorts of advice from running it on ebay, putting it out with a high BIN/BO, and consigning it to a big ebay seller. I'm still weighing my options.
I hope this clears things up but if posting this card and asking for value help was a bad move then I certainly apologize. It seems like this has been done a thousand times before and I genuinely had no idea what the card is worth.

No one is butt hurt. But this is hobby talk. Not BST. There is a BST section to buy/sell and trade your cards. Sneaky people love posting "Whats its worth" threads in the hobby talk that way they dont have to start a BST thread where they are FORCED to put a price when selling. By not having to post a price, the seller can easily field crazy offers and get much more than his unknown selling price. I liken it to a sleezy scheme. Just post your card for sale in the BST if you want to sell it. Straight up simple and no stupid games. The guy obviously knows the cards value. He picked it up in a lot. You think he paid for the lot without knowing card were in there and how much he thought he could turn them for? I know when I go buy a lot, I price out the cards based on their flip value so at the very least I have a number in mind. Unless you go and make purchases and bids on cards without even know what they sell? Is that how its done? This guy isnt a rookie. He knows exactly what he is doing. Rookies dont buy lots to resell without knowing what they can get.

Do I want Hobby Talk to turn into worthpoint? No, the blowout community is pretty good at holding people accountable for their value/spam threads. If someone has a card that hasn't been on the market in awhile then sure...post it. If it helps them make a sale and generates some solid hobby talk then great.

Orange: Correct me if I'm wrong but don't you have to put a price on a card to list it in the B/S/T section? The whole point of this thread is that I don't know what to ask for the card. Furthermore, I've said repeatedly that the card is not for sale on Blowout. You post cards in that section to sell them as opposed to discuss their potential value/rarity, correct? My card is not for sale on Blowout so why would I go to the B/S/T section?

I wont argue with you back and forth on whether this thread was meant to instigate and garner more attention for the card you are going to be selling. In my opinion that was the tactic used here to bait people into making offers, pimping a card in your possession and letting people know what you have. All of this masked under the guise that you have naive on what card you actually have in your hand.
What you are essentially saying is you bought this card not knowing how much its value it, not knowing how much you probably could get for it when selling because the purpose of buying this card was to re sell?? That doesnt sound logical. What does sound logical is you bought this card at a price you knew you could turn a profit hence why you bought it. KNowing full well what you paid, you now need an audience to enterain demand and offers. Thus here you are and this thread. Simple as that. Some see it. Some dont.

Should get the mods to "sticky" it. But people will refrain from posting in there because it wont get enough "Attention" for sale in a thread with other cards.
I wont argue with you back and forth on whether this thread was meant to instigate and garner more attention for the card you are going to be selling. Haha! I'm friends with most of the people on these boards that have been here the longest and they can vouch for my character and whether or not I'm being honest. I was warned through PM that I should ignore you rather than let you bait me into an argument so I think I'll do that. You're welcome to believe what you want, I literally couldn't care less. You're not worth responding to any further so I won't.

Youre just upset you got caught trying to bait offers by playing naive. This type of critisism comes with the terrority when slidng like a snake. Take it like a man.
As for the slinging mud at me by trying to upset with about some guy in pm and being warned... :)!:)!:)! to you!! Its like that pot shot you took at hermanotarjeta earlier. You only do that when you know you're caught playing the game.
Good luck selling your card. Graat job on attarcting offers in the hobby talk forum.

I'm not sure why people get butt hurt by spam/value threads. ::gasp:: We help a fellow collector get some insight and the most out of their card. We've all been there. If they get a few extra eyeballs on it who cares? I actually enjoy these kind of threads.
I've been attacked by this guy/seller because he was "butt hurt" by my estimate. He didn't like the price estimate so he immediately tries to turn it around on me and says I'm "embarassed" by my "lack of knowledge". For all I know all those who are defending him here in this thread are trying to help their buddy out.
All I know is, when I smell a spammer, I find a spammer. He admits that people have made offers and he is fielding those inquisitions.
If you all want this section to turn into a b/s/t section, so be it.
As soon as he starts to demean and put down those who question him, I would seriously second guess your desire to deal with him.
It's a BGS 8, one of the worst conditioned card of its kind that has been graded - why would anyone settle for that?
Most big money guys who have respect for their own collection would easily pass on this card.
How did it even get to this lol
Who cares if he had a second agenda in promoting his card (which I don't think he was) - just scroll and move on with your lives people
