Why Panini? Why??

Which one is worse? Are there any others like this?

This is better than the Totally Certified. If the players arm goes off the card they do a die cut around the arm..... I mean some still look cool but some look bad. Just my opinion

No, I was not talking about the design. I was strictly referring to the white, missing player body part mentioned by OP.

That's what trixstar was talking about. That white under the player is purely design by Panini, no error.

I was talking about the parts in red rectangles - I think that it has more to do with the printing problem than the overall design, unless the pictures themselves are already like this.

The design being bad or not is not my concern anyway.

Ahhhh ok. My bad then. I don't necessarily agree, but I apologize for my own confusion.

Ha ha, wow, this is up there with the top of the heads being cut off in the 12/13 "Flawless" patch set.

The title of this thread is misleading. I know why someone cuts a body in half. I have no idea why Panini would design cards this way.

I don't think this is designed; rather, i think it is poor photo selection. Most of the cards from these sets don't have the pics cut off further than they were designed to be. I think the samples from the OP are because of Panini choosing half body close up pics that don't fit their design requirements.

It's poor design, at least in regards to the Hakeem. I mean, you get given that card and where exactly are you supposed to sign..?
I brought up their shoddy design when they were released, I'll see if I can drag that up.

And just to show that I'm not simply complaining, here are suggestions on how to improve them:

Hakeem - move the logo. Still lots of space, but allows for larger signatures if required. I gave him a waist too.

Triple - give Hill a body (and a messed up hand...)

OR, like I previously showed with my take on the Kobe triple, design the card to have more space by putting the USA logo down and allowing each player room to sign. Obviously swapping Hill and Payton helps in this instance

I have no design qualifications and I'm using Paint, it's not that hard to make the card look better...
