ESPN SportsCenter just posted this on twitter.
Has been on the cusp all year and hes still in it.
ONLY player in the history of the nba to do this!
Not Jordan, Not Lebron, Not Kobe.....No one else, But Giannis.
Also, he is also in the top 20 in fg% as well, crazy!
Oh, And he is also ONLY 22 Years old!
Also, he is top 20 in double doubles as well and one of only 9 players this year with multiple triple double games.
So can he keep it up and actually make history and be the only player when the season's done?
Its gonna be fun to watch i will tell you that much!

Blocks will kill it for him - his highest ever average was 1.1 per game and the lowest guy in the Top 20 that year (in total that year to compare apples to apples) had 108 blocks so 1.3+ a game
There might be a year where he was close but the total blocks are hard to come by.
Very impressive by Giannis

Without looking at his stats, I would think Lebron's block totals are pretty low. He gets the occasional trailing fast break highlight dunk, but his overall totals are probably not that high.
It is crazy to think this season, you got Giannis having a historical season and not even in the MVP talk. His season along with Westbrook's triple dub average and Lebron's ho hum 26/8/8 and none of them may get the MVP. Lot of players having big number seasons.

It's going to be tight down the stretch...
There are a bunch of guys grouped together in his total assist number. Lilliard, Walker, Rondo, Dragic, Kyrie etc...Depends on who plays how many of the remaining games as much as it has who has played so far (Giannis for example has played 4 more games then Lilliard and yet are tied in Assists - Per game he isn't in the Top 20)

yes gonna be real tight but i would love to see it happen. what a season this will be for the nba if it happens as well as westbrooks triple double if he can get that. 2 things to have fun with and keep an eye on as the season plays out

I realize this board appreciates players who are efficent and lead their team to wins. Is Giannis just a stat stuffer? Or will he be more?

MUCH more. the bucks are in the playoffs right now and have a nice winning streak going.
this is his 1st true year as a starter and you can see how much his confidence has rose year after year.
3 years ago when he got drafted he was 18, barely spoke english and just moved to a new country.
quite alot for an 18 year old to handle. im surprised how fast he is growing in all aspects of the game and personally and mentally.

yes i know but i was saying he really is freely playing the way he can this year as a true starter and a leader. last year was a lot of experiments going on with him at different positions. now he and the staff know what he can do and how to use him. but you are correct

i dont think it is at all. i feel he is still undervalued by a ton. im still buying weekly. i remember people saying to sell and the train was over when westbrook chrome were at $30, when durant chromes were at $50, when lebron chrome were at $75. now look at them. still very undervalued. his prizms bring average $30 and look how young he is. hes 22 and already has 4 full seasons of stats under his belt. the smart people and collectors have been buying for the past 3-6 months cause they know in 2-3 years all the nice stuff will be locked away in pcs and not available unless you wanna pay a ton more.

That's not correct. He's been a full-time starter since the 10th game of his 2nd season, with 1 random game towards the end of the 2014-15 season where Kidd benched him entirely and 1 game last season where he decided to have Giannis come off the bench as an experiment.
He's having a great season and has been progressing each season prior. No need to make up things to make it sound like he was getting held back before this year.

I didn't state an opinion. I pointed out a fact that can be researched. You said this year was his first year as a true starter. That isn't true. He has been a starter since the 10th game of his sophomore season (with 2 games where he didn't start since then).

they will change this however they need to to fit him in this....earlier in season it was per game...but now he isnt top 20 in all of them per game...so they change it to totals....and he is barely in on majority of them....17th, 18th, tied for 20th...steals/blocks only sure things he ends in top 20....
and if he slips im sure at years end we will see "only guy to finish in the top 23 of all these stats"...a completely arbitrary thing and number but they will still say it...lol
just like last year he was the only guy to get like 1100/600/500/100/100 or something....and you could pick a bunch of guys that had like 1800/800/400/100/100....but since he got a few more assists then he was in some "elite club"....
or earlier this year how he was gonna be only guy to ever have 23/8/6/2/2(like that stat line means anything!!)....now he is 23/8/5.5/1.9/1.8....im sure they will find a way to word it to show he is only guy to do this as well...like it means anything at all....westbrook is gonna go 31/10/10 with 1.5stl....im sure he is only guy to ever do that since they didnt keep steals stat back in Big O days...but hey...giannis is gonna have almost 2 stl so lets make his statline some historic thing based on absolutely nothing..
Lebron right now is like 27/9/8 with 1.3stl and 54% FG shooting...Giannis is not doing that...but again...some random guidelines and we are supposed to think his statline is unbelievable...
and no i dont hate GA...he is awesome...i just get irrationally annoyed at his stat line being talked about like its something to be in awe of...lol

I'm referring to the "true starter" statement. OP made it sound like Giannis has been in and out of the starting lineup before this season when that's just not true. Yes, the Bucks have changed his role substantially this season, but that doesn't change the fact that he has been a starter since November of 2014 (averaging 30+ minutes per game along the way).

I don't think it's meant to be some kind of mind-blowing stat. Just a pretty good example of his unique versatility.
Giannis is still developing his skills, especially in shooting, he will be a better player and leader in the future.

I found it interesting that although ebay sales on GA is still high, but under table I was able to grab a few RC Autos for around 60 Dollars.
I believe people are selling off big right now, and I think the main big reason is that the bucks are not likely to make the playoffs. People doesn't seem to have big confidence on him to remain great, so they'd rather sell now.
But my opinion is that unless injury, he's gonna be even better.
So if you can get great price lower than Ebay right now, I'd say it's still a good choice to invest in him

selling off?? he just started catching fire card wise. im a buyer everyday of the week. HUGE investment potentil for a 22 yr old with his talents.
sell now if you want but let me ask you a question, do you think card prices of lebron peaked at 22 yrs old? Kevin durant at 22 yrs old? westbrook at 22 yrs old? if you think that any of those guys peaked at 22 and you think giannis has peaked at 22 then go ahead and sell. i think you know the smarter move is to buy. but then again im a buyer so sell, and sell FAST ;)

This is a random/terrible thought, but he needs to change his name to get any kind of HUGE recognition. I just think a lot of people don't relate to him because they can't pronounce any part of his name.
You never hear about him from a national standpoint and when he's on TV they just call him by his first name or 'Greek Freak'. He should just drop his last name and go by Giannis. ha

Why don't you mention the guys that did peak at 22 (or in that range - you get the point)? Or just because those don't support the narrative?
I bet everyone that was holding Blake Griffin back when his NT RPA was the hottest card on the planet wishes they had sold...
It's great that you think Giannis is going to be an all time great, and he just might be, but cherry picking LeBron and Durant is sort of lame.
And Durant, on some level, did peak years ago. His cards saw a steady decline over the past 2 or 3 seasons (I was holding quite a few SPA RC Autos and RPA's for a while) until he joined Golden State.

thats easy. here are some examples. also i didnt cherry pick lebron and durant, i also mentioned westbrook. was going by a indicator of rookie base chrome/prizm prices as an example.
blake was already 21 going on 22 in his 1st nba season, i try to compare giannis to other superstars that were drafted young 18-19 yrs old.
blake has always had a high usage rate and fg attempt per game #.
in blakes 1st season he averaged 16.8 fga per game compared to giannis avg 5.4
2nd season fga blake 15.5 - giannis 9.6
3rd season fga blake 13.4 - giannis 12.7
4th season fga blake 17.0 - giannis 15.7
blake has always been the key part of that team from day 1, , giannis is just getting started.
i never was high on blakes game ever. was he awesome to watch his 1st 2 season absolutely but you knew what you were getting. you knew you were getting a talented kid that is pretty much a strong dunker and in the key player. i never seen long term potential with him at all to be a "great".
with giannis his skill set is so amazing you dont know what you are getting.
just look at how much muscle he has packed on in 3 years.
he has even grown in height since being drafted.
can shoot the ball from anywhere and has a high fg% on his fga as well.
can play the point guard spot at 6'11 or the center
he has a whole different skill set then blake ever had, has been used much less in usage rate, field goal attempts per game, and minutes per game.
he is a special player with a special skill set the nba has never seen before, wing span, hand size, all kinds of other stuff.
this is only the start for giannis. he has so much more to offer and on a young team with all young players the bucks can be a force for years to come in the east and be contenders every year.
giannis is only in his 4th year at 22, you got jabari if healthy at 22 in his 3rd year, middleton only 25 in his 5th year, brogdon 24 rookie year, and if thon maker pans out to be the next kevin garnett like some people think, you have one of the youngest up and coming teams to contend for years ever. if they find a way to all put it together.
point is i dont personally think his cards have even begun to peak at all.
if you think they have then sell, if you think they havent then buy.
if you held durant then you seen the long term investment in him and didnt think they peaked either, which was a smart move. cause durant has many years left in this league and giannis even has way more years left.
as time goes by nice and high end rookie year cards of superstars tend to dry up and get harder to find. also contributes to the price rise you have seen with durant and lebron and westbrook and harden and others. giannis is still fresh and most of the cards hitting the market now wont be available in the same rate as they are now in a few years.
once again all of this is my personal opinion, yours may differ and thats fine.
but if you are asking me do i think in in 4 years when giannis is only 26 that his prizms are still gonna be worth $30-$35 each for raws that answer is a strong no. i expect them to be worth much much more.
its a bet i have already made by buying a ton of his cards and still buying them when available.
i have a thread in the b/s/t section where i am actively buying any bgs 9.5 giannis rookies i dont have and if you have any please let me know.

Holy wall of text. I'm not going to read any of this.
My point is the same. Comparing Giannis values to LeBron values at this "age" is cherry picking to prove a point if you ignore every other 20-25 year old player that "peaked" in value then and has gone down since.

Summary:
Career wise (drafted young, forwards with handle) , they were closer to each other than Giannis was to Blake. I would also add AD to the comparison (take it as you will).

Giannis will be the 1st player in nba history to finish top 20 in total points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and as well as fg%.
Unbelievable to think he will still only be 22 yrs old in his 5th nba season when the next season starts in October.

Currently 20th in Assists with 2 games to play. Has a 6 Assist lead on the 21st guy. And the next 5 guys all average more per game... it's gonna be close.
Kyrie is trailing by 14... but has 3 games left... he is playing today. He would need a big game to cut the gap.
Hope he gets it.

Should be safe now. Last nights triple double jumped him into a tie for 18th and gives him a 15 asstist cushion on the 21st guy.
So if Giannis only gets 5 ast his next game... Goran Dragic will need 21 to pass him. Or Eric Gordon and Kyrie will need 22.

Amazing season for him. I knew he was going to improve, but never expected him to dominate like he did, not so soon.
